Whimsical cards are not typically my favorite card to make, but sometimes the images are just too cute to resist! The sweet mythical creatures in the Myths & Magic suite really caught my eye because they are so different than what we're used to from Stampin' Up! That, and the fact that the papers and accents are in colors that I love, made me HAVE to try out these products! Today I'm sharing the cards I created to spotlight this imaginative suite for my Kickoff Party.

One of a Kind Magical Mermaid Cards

Stampin' Up! has been releasing some really amazing Designer Series Papers lately, have you noticed? Teals and purples are my favorite colors, so I was instantly drawn to the color combinations on the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Papers. The fact that one side of all of the different patterns has some shimmery, glitter accents just makes it all the more appealing to me!

Background Basics—I started by decorating my Dapper Denim card base with some pretty, sparkly Myths & Magic DSP. The Bermuda Bay bubble pattern measures 5-1/2" x 2 and the Fresh Fig twinkly strip measures 5-1/2" x 3/4".

Oooh! Check out that sparkly goodness on the bubble paper! So lovely! I finished the background by tying some 1/8" Bermuda Bay ribbon from the Glimmer Ribbon Sale-a-Bration Pack around the card front into a double-knot "bow."

Magical Sentiment—I stamped the Magical Day stamp set sentiment in Fresh Fig ink onto a Whisper White die-cut created with the Layering Ovals Framelits, leaving plenty of room for my mermaid. I also added some little twinkle trios in Dapper Denim ink. The oval is popped up onto the card front with Dimensionals.

Magical Mermaid—There's one pattern of the Myths & Magic DSP that features beautiful mermaid images in all different colors and shapes! I hand-cut one of the images with my super-sharp Paper Snips, then popped her up with Dimensionals onto the oval. Look at her tail? It's so, so shimmery, too!

Finishing Touches—If you look closely, you can see that I added a few Clear & Glitter Epoxy Shapes around the sentiment. The package includes round shapes that look like bubbles, and tear-drop shapes that match the rain in the Sunshine & Rainbows stamp set!

Two Cool—My second card begins with a Fresh Fig card base. I kept the Bermuda bubbles, but flipped the Fig DSP to the Dapper Denim side. The patterns on the backs of the shimmery papers do not have glitter accents, but they do have pretty, versatilve patterns that coordinate perfectly.

I swapped the stamped colors, but kept the same basic design as the original card. I love how the different mermaids look different in hair and skin-tone, and are all floating in different positions. It makes each card a little more unique! I used the teardrop shapes of the epoxy accents.
