I created my own and it wasn't difficult at all…just a bit time-consuming to get all the die-cuts ready to go!

Basic Parts Needed For Your Ornament:

  • 20 large ornaments, stamped and die-cut (I stamped in Gumball Green)
  • 20 small ornaments, stamped and die-cut (I stamped in Cherry Cobbler)
  • 1" and 1-3/4" Circle Punches from card stock.
  • 5 pieces of Tulle Ribbon, 6" strips (I used Cherry Cobbler)
  • Designer Paper, I recommend 12"x 1", but you can vary. (I used Be of Good Cheer DSP)
  • 5-10 pieces of 5" Linen Thread or Metallic Cord (I didn't add this)
  • Vintage Faceted Button
  • Large Pearl Button
  • Crystal Effects or Hot Glue Gun

Make Your Own: Several demonstrators already have nice tutorials with only slight variations, so I'll direct you to them for the details. I used the written one by Kirsteen Gill: Holiday Ornament Tutorial PDF.  Angie Juda also has a nice video: Holiday Ornament Video Tutorial.

Basic Ornament Construction:

Each tip of the ornament is created by adhering four die-cuts, each folded in half, back to back.  You start by assembling 5 of the large ornament points and 5 small ornament points. You can add in some Linen Thread or Metallic Cord looping over each point, but I skipped this part.

Then, it's simply a matter of gluing them around a 1-3/4" Circle punch-out.  I used hot glue because it was fast and easy.  Add the large ornament points first, then scrunch in some Tulle Ribbon between each of the ornament points.  Then, adhere the smaller ornament points.

I used my Simply Scored to accordion score and fold my Designer Paper strip, then adhered that to the 1" Circle punch-out and hot glued that to the center.  Finish it off with the Vintage Faceted Button and a Large Pearl.

Carmen DeBruce also created some Ornaments Keepsakes Holiday Ornaments and she shared them at our last Demo Team Meeting…

Here is one of her ornaments in traditional Christmas colors. Hers is a little more compact than mine, and I like that much better!

She added some of the retired Silver Cord to each large ornament point.  I love the look of that!  Adds just a touch of shine!

Carmen also tried some color variations on the ornament…this time in Pretty In Pink and Lucky Limeade (I think, correct me if I'm wrong, Carmen).

She used white tulle ribbon for this one and added a 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch of Silver Glimmer Paper under the Vintage Faceted Button.

Also, she didn't have any designer paper to match for the medallion center, so she made her own.  She clear embossed the retired Bright Blessings Wheel onto card stock, then sponged on coordinating colors. Notice the scalloped edges of the medallion?  She used the Designer Rosette Bigz XL die—ooohh, that makes it SO easy!

Here's another beauty from Carmen in pretty Marina Mist and Perfect Plum colors!

She used light blue tulle ribbon between the points.  Her center medallion is hand-stamped and sponged like the previous one, and she used the Finishing Touches Edgelits for a pretty scalloped border.

Also, you can't see it very well, but she added Dazzling Diamonds to the points for some brilliant sparkle!  It's a must!
