Hi Stamping Friends!

It's the beginning of a another very busy week at Too Cool Stamping!  I'm getting ready to stamp with the dental hygienists at Family Dentistry & Aesthetics tonight!  Woohoo!  I love taking my Too Cool stamping on the road to provide a little relaxing creative time at local businesses.

Does that sound like fun?  Would you and your co-workers like a fun team-building activity?  Contact me to schedule an after-work stamping class or a lunch-time express workshop!

Weekly Deals—It's the last day to take advantage of this week's specials.  Take another look: Weekly Deals!  New deals will be announced tomorrow.

LAST CALL For Two Classes!  The All Is Calm Monogram Gift Set Class signups end tomorrow, Tuesday, November 18 at 5pm.  And, the Stamp-of-the-Month Ornamental Pine Class registration ends on November 19. Don't miss out!  Order a Class-To-Go Kit if you can't make it to the local class.

Speaking of the Ornamental Pine Class, let's take a closer look at the second design for this stamp-a-stack style class.  You can see details on the first card design at Sparkly Ornamental Pine Banner Card.

Snow scene - three cool

Inspired by Maree Streeter at Inky Moose.

We'll be creating 6 cards with this pretty masked & sponged snow landscape!  I just love how these turned out and they are so easy to do!

Simple Masked Snow Background

  • Using a 1/2 sheet of copy paper, cut a curvy line to simulate the snowy slope of the hills to create a mask.
  • Lay your mask over your 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Optional: Use some temporary adhesive to help hold your mask down.
  • Holding the edges of the mask firmly in place with your fingers, sponge Soft Sky ink in small circles over the paper's edge.  Continue sponging color over the entire top of the card stock. TIP: Start your sponge on the mask and work in small circles pulling the ink toward the card stock.  This prevents you from accidentally folding up the mask's edge.  It also gives you a smoother color blend.  When you start the sponge on the card stock, it tends to leave a harsh ink mark.
  • Sponge along the mask with Marina Mist, then sponge around the perimeter of the top section, leaving some lighter blue showing in the center.
  • Repeat the sponging with Night of Navy ink, leaving the center lighter.
  • Lift the mask and stamp your pine images over the top!

Snow scene - ornament

Background Basics—I used a lot of Night of Navy sponging on the 3-3/4" 5" Whisper White layer, giving it a really crisp snow line and the look of moonlight on the snow.  I added a 1" x 5-1/2" strip of Silver Foil to the Night of Navy card base before adhering the stamped layer.

Snow scene - ornament3

Sweet Sentiment—Before masking & sponging, I made sure that I allowed enough room for the greeting.  I used the longer phrase from Ornamental Pine in Night of Navy.

Snow scene - ornament2

Pine Bough—I first inked the beautiful pine image in Mossy Meadow.  For the branch, I pulled the ink off the rubber with the Blender Pen, then colored it again with an Early Espresso Marker.  I made sure to leave enough room for the ornament before stamping across the top of the card.

Colorful Ornament—I stamped the ornament hanger in Early Espresso first, so I knew how far down to stamp the ornament.  The ornament is also stamped in Early Espresso.  I stamped it a second time in Rich Razzleberry on a scrap piece of Whisper White, then cut it out with my Paper Snips and popped it up over the top with Dimensionals.

I think lots of different colors of ornaments would look fabulous with this design—try a different one for each card!  How about Cherry Cobbler, Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant, Melon Mambo or even Crushed Curry!

Snow scene - pine v

I also love the look of the pine cones with the pine needles.  Very natural and rustic!

Snow scene - pine v2

The pine cones are stamped in Early Espresso.

Snow scene - pine v3

Silver Sequins—I added a trio of Frosted Sequins as snow sparkles to balance the Silver Foil.  These are adhered with a tiny dab of Multipurpose Glue or Glue Dots.

Snow scene - pine h2

I used the other Ornamental Pine greeting for this horizontal version.  So pretty!
