Painterly Pears Torn Paper Friend Card

Today’s card features a trendy background technique creating the look of torn paper! It’s a great way to spotlight the fabulous Designer Series Papers, while providing a beautiful background for the perfect focal point!

Background Basics

I started with three pieces of Painterly Pairs Designer Series Paper: 3-1/2″ x 3″ and 3-1/2″ x 1-1/4″ in the floral pattern and 3-1/2″ x 2″ in the leaves pattern. I tore the edges of the bottom of the larger floral piece and the top of the smaller floral piece. Then used the edge of my scissors blade to rough up the torn edge a bit, so it looks curled up and nicely distressed.

Next, I adhered my leaves DSP with SEAL Adhesive to a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Gray Granite cardstock, positioned so that it would appear between the torn layers. I added the floral pieces to the top and bottom of the layer, making it look like the floral paper was torn away to reveal the leaves paper. Such a cool look! Before adhering to the Secret Sea card front, I tied some of the Mossy Meadow & Gold Ribbon around the layers into a double-knot and trimmed the ends. Oh, I love this two-color ribbon! TIP: before pulling the knot tight, twist the ribbon around so that you see the same color side, either Mossy Meadow or gold, once it is complete.

Focal Point

I popped up a Darling Duckling Stylish Shapes circle die-cut over the ribbon with Dimensionals. Next, I stamped the Perfectly Pears image in Secret Sea ink and colored in the stems and leaves with Stampin’ Blends Markers in Pecan Pie and Mossy Meadow. For the fill image, I sponged Darling Duckling and Old Olive inks onto the stamp with Sponge Daubers for the multicolor look. So lovely!

Sweet Sentiment & Finishing Touches

I stamped the Perfectly Pairs sentiment in Secret Sea ink onto a Basic White Perfectly Pairs mini label die-cut. It’s adhered with SEAL Adhesive. I finished with a couple of Secret Sea Low Profile Sparkle Dots. The perfect card for a good friend!
