Party This Way Pennants Pop-Up Card

Today, my dear ole Dad, Tom Putman, turns 75 years old!  Happy birthday, Dad!

Wow!  Three quarters of a century!  That's one hell of a milestone!  It's especially sweet this year because, after three years of unrelenting health issues, and hospital stay after hospital stay, he is FINALLY feeling really, really good!  I'm so grateful that he was able to get through so many challenges, and finally be able to enjoy his life again! It makes me so happy to see him smile and laugh again!

And, once again, his garage is neat and organized, his yard is looking immaculate, and his golf game is as good as it ever was, if not better!  In fact, two weeks ago, he shot a 75 (although he had to complain that he could have bragged that he "shot his age" if it would have been one stroke less or two week later)!  Haha!

Here's the card I made for his special day…

Dad - card front   Darla - party this way

Celebrations 117164LI CASEd the front of the card from a card created by my friend Darla Eigenschink for her son, Zach (shown above).

There are lots of fun things to talk about on this card!

First of all is the bright and cheery, birthday paper called Celebrations Designer Series Paper, which is retiring on June 30th.  (Don't miss your Last Chance on retiring stamps and accessories!)  It's a fantastic, multipurpose paper to have on hand for birthdays of any age or gender!

Party this way 120609LThe fun Party This Way stamp set goes perfectly with this paper, too!  You can't go wrong with this pairing. My favorite parts are the pennants, which are strung on White Baker's Twine that is hanging from Silver Brads!

Look closely.  I've used one pennant image from the Party This Way set, but I've combined it with a couple of Sneak Peek products!

The first Sneak Peek is a set called Pennant Parade.  The Pear Pizzazz colored polka dot pennant background is from this new set, plus the dotted line pennant that the "7" and "5" are layered on.  The small stars are in that sent, too!  Sorry, I can't show you the whole set before the catalog is released on July 1, so you'll have to wait until next week.

All of the images coordinate perfectly with the second Sneak Peek product, the new Petite Pennants Builder Punch.  I used that to punch out both the scallop-edge pennant and the smaller, inside pennant.  Too Cool!  (Poor Darla had to cut all hers out by hand, since we didn't have this new punch when she made her card.)

I didn't have any numbers stamps (What? How can that be?), so I cut out the numbers from the Celebrations paper and used a 2-Way Glue Pen to decorate them with red glitter.  I tipped each pennant with a Rhinestone Jewel for sparkle.

The inside of the card is a pop-up, using more images from Party This Way.  You can find out how to make this simple pop-up on my Maggie's Owl Birthday Party post.  The second picture is after I added a few Rhinestone Jewels—much better!

I used Baker's Twine for the balloon ribbons.  The Cherry Cobbler twine is on the Bashful Blue balloon, but the other's are White twine that I colored with markers to add coordinating stripes.

Love you, Dad!  I hope your day is extra-special!

See you all next time!
