CASEd from Becky Roberts at Inking Idaho.
Today I had some fun with the new Patio Party Designer Series Paper by using it to do paper piecing on these Two Cool cards! This is one of the designs we're creating at my "Last Thursdays" Monthly Card Class coming up June 28. (RSVP now!)
For the background, I started with a Baja Breeze card stock base, then added a 2-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Baja Breeze that I texture embossed with the Argyle Impressions Folder. The arygle pattern matches one of the patterns from the Patio Party DSP.
Horizontal Embossing TIP: I had to run the piece through the folder twice to get the pattern to go in the direction I wanted all the way across the card stock. The first time I could only do part of the piece, then the second time I embossed the remaining area. I used the embossing on the first side to line up (and in some cases re-emboss) the other side. I had a little crease line left on the piece, but it was mostly covered with the scallop circle accent.
Next, I layered the 1-1/4" x 5-1/2" Summer Starfruit polka dots and 3/4" x 5-1/2" Baja Breeze hearts patterned paper, stamped with a Curly Cute sentiment, on the card base. I finished with a strip of the Primrose Petals 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.
The argyle pattern worked in one try lined going vertically. I wanted my hearts patterned paper to go in the "right" direction, so I added the sentiment to the bottom on this one.
The accent was the fun part to make! I combined the images from the Make A Cake stamp set with the Patio Party DSP using a paper piecing technique.
I stamped the different layers of the cake images directly onto the Designer Paper, then hand-cut them just outside the stamped line.
TIP: I highly recommend cutting these small areas with Paper Snips…they are THE BEST for detailed, precise cuts!
I even stamped and cut out a little pinwheel for the cake topper! I think it looks completely adorable popped up with Dimensionals on a 1-3/4" Circle Punch in Whisper White and 2-3/8" Circle Scallop Punch layer in Midnight Muse.
