Hi Stamping Friends!

I'm in full craft fair preparation mode and I'm loving it!  Last weekend, I shopped for some for some display items at Hobby Lobby, and the look of my booth is starting to shape up.  Here's a couple of peeks…

Craft Fair ladder    Craft fair - sandwich board

My two favorite display purchases were a ladder of bins that will be perfect for holding my treat boxes and a chalk board sandwich board!  Now, I just need to get the booth all filled up with projects!

Today I'm sharing another awesome project from our Too Cool Team swap last week.  Peggy Tassler created a cute fancy-fold holiday card that doubles as a gift card holder. Too Cool!  I like the gift card holder so much that I asked Peggy to help me create some for my booth!  Let's take a closer look at her project!

Peggy's Candy Cane Christmas Gift Card Holder Card

Peggy's fancy-fold holiday card is a combination of a Z-Fold card and a Joy-Fold card, plus, it holds a gift card AND it can even stand up on display!  It's pretty ding-dang amazing!

When you open up the top flap of the card, you can see the gift card pocket at the top.

When you pull the "Z" fold part down, it fully reveals the area in the middle for writing a message and a decorated sentiment panel.  Let's break it down step-by-step:

Basic Card Foundation—This card is created with two separate card stock pieces that are adhered together.

  • Start with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Cherry Cobbler.
  • Using the Simply Scored Tool, score along the 11" side at 2-3/4" & 5-1/2".
  • With the 5-1/2" fold at the bottom, fold back the 2-3/4" panel to create the bottom from of the card.
  • The second, smaller Cherry Cobbler piece is 3-1/2" x 9".
  • Score along the 9" side at 4-1/2".
  • With the fold at the top, adhere this smaller card onto the inside, largest panel of the Z-fold card using Tear & Tape Adhesive or Fast Fuse.  The front of this smaller card will overlap the bottom of the Z-folded card.
  • Decorate!

Card Front Background—Peggy decorated the small front panel with a 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" layer of Whisper White, and added a 3-1/4" x 3/4" piece of Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper along the bottom.

Sweet Sentiment—Peggy stamped a greeting from Candy Cane Christmas in Early Espresso ink onto a 2" square of Whisper White.  She stamped the candy cane stripes along the top in Real Red—I love that peppermint border!  This layer is matted onto a Crumb Cake scallop square layer, die cut with the Layering Squares Framelits.

Cute Accents—Peggy decorated the square with some stamps from the same Candy Cane Christmas set.  The mitten and candy cane are stamped in Real Red and the star is stamped in Early Espresso.  All of the images are cut out by hand and popped up with Dimensionals.

Front Closure—Peggy covered the bottom front panel with a 4" x 2-1/2" piece of Candy Cane Lane DSP.  Then, she stamped the Candy Cane Christmas tree in Crumb Cake and punched it with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch.  It's layered onto an Early Espresso scallop circle that's die cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  To make the closure, close the card first, add a Dimensional directly under the top flap onto the bottom flap, then attach the circle to it.  The Dimensional will only be on the bottom of the circle and the top flap tucks in under the top of the circle.  Way cool!

Once the gift card pocket was adhered to the inside of the card, Peggy added some Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine bows.

Gift Card Pocket—Peggy used more of the same DSP to create the gift card pocket.  This time the DSP measures 3-1/4" x 4" and she used the Layering Circles Framelits to cut out a semi-circle notch at the top.  It's adhered around the three outer edges with some Tear & Tape adhesive leaving plenty of space for a gift card to fit inside!

Writing Area—The inside of the card is decorated with a 3-3/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Whisper White, and a 3-3/4" x 3/4" strip of DSP along the bottom edge.

Sentiment Panel—The third panel on the inside has a 4" x 2-1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock, stamped with a Wondrous Wreath sentiment in Real Red ink.  The Candy Cane Christmas peppermints images are stamped in Real Red, too.

Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
