Hi Stamping Friends!
Today, we have another new catalog sneak peek, courtesy of Peggy Tassler! She designed this card for us to create at our Too Cool Demo Team masculine card shoebox swap last Monday.
Peggy's card features the brand new Work of Art stamp set—I think it's gonna be one of my favorites! It's filled with all kinds of painterly elements that you can combine to create your own masterpiece! She used the swooshes and splotches and dots to create a decorative background with a masculine feel. It kind of reminds me of camouflage!
3-Panel Background—We started with a full piece of 5-1/4" x 4" Whisper White then stamped elements in the new In Colors: Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey. We stamped off the colors once to make them a little lighter.
The remaining spaces were filled in with the dot image, inked in VersaMark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder to add brilliant shine.
Finally, we used the Stampin' Trimmer to cut the piece into three 1-5/8" wide panels, saving the skinny left-over piece to decorate the inside. TIP: Take care to keep your panels in order so they will line up correctly when you adhere them on the front. It's easy to adhere them in the wrong order…trust me! <wink>
2/3 Gate Fold—The 4-1/4" x 11" Soft Suede base of the card was scored at the 3-5/8" and 9-1/8" marks to create an off-set gate-fold opening. The three stamped panels fit perfectly on the cover with about 1/8" around the edge showing.
Sentiment Focal Point—The overlapping focal point was also stamped with the Work of Art images. We stamped the splotch in full-strength Hello Honey onto a 3-1/8" x 2-1/8" piece of Whisper White. The words are from two separate stamps and are inked in Lost Lagoon.
Next, we adhered the sentiment onto 3-1/4" x 2-1/4" Mossy Meadow layer, then onto 3-3/8" x 2-3/8" Lost Lagoon layer, then onto a 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" Soft Suede layer. It's attached to the card front with Dimensionals under the left side only.
Finishing Touch—We added that left-over, skinny stamped piece to the inside of the card for a matching border.
