Flags - 4 cool

Hi Stamping Friends,

I hope you're having a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!  Today we remember & honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. And, thank you to all the men & women who have served or are serving our country.

It may be Memorial Day, but any day is a great day to thank our service members.  I shared some fun flag card ideas a couple years ago on my Four Cool Flag Cards post, all created with the Work of Art stamp set

Retiring: The Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack has that little star punch and it's retiring, so get it now for patriotic projects!

Today, I'm sharing a couple of birthday cards created by Peggy Tassler featuring a few of those soon-to-retire items!

Party make a wish - peggy

#1 Party Wishes Deco Recessed Window Card—Peggy Tassler used several items from the It's My Party suite in the Occasions Catalog to create this soft & sweet birthday card.

Background Basics—Peggy started by embossing a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pool Party card stock with the Confetti Texture Impressions Folder.  She die-cut the middle of the oval texture with the retiring Deco Labels Collection Framelits to make a window.

Party make a wish 2 - peggy

Stamped Cake—The Party Wishes cake image was stamped in Pink Pirouette ink onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  TIP: Lay the die-cut piece over the top of the white layer, then stamp through the window for perfect alignment inside the window.  She used Pool Party and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Markers to color the candle image on the rubber, then stamped it above the cake.

Once stamping was done, she adhered the stamped layer onto a Pink Pirouette card base, then pop up the embossed window layer with Dimensionals over the top.

Sweet Sentiment—The Party Wishes greeting was stamped in Pool Party ink onto Whisper White scrap card stock, then punched out with the 1-1/2" Circle Punch and pop up with more Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches—Peggy finished her card with a little sparkle and shimmer!  She adhered a retiring Pool Party Glimmer Ribbon bow to the cake with a Glue Dot for an eye-catching accent.  Then, she brushed on Wink of Stella Clear over the entire embossed surface—lovely!

Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.

Peggy endless birthday wishes dsp

#2 Endless Party Wishes Card—The items in the It's My Party suite make it so easy to make fast & fun birthday cards!

Background Basics—Peggy created a quick background by layering a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of candle paper from the huge 12" x 12" It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack.

Birthday Banner—Next, Peggy stamped an Endless Birthday Wishes cake image with Memento Black Ink onto a 2" x 4-1/4" strip of Whisper White card stock.  She colored it with Stampin' Write Markers in Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron & Smoky Slate.  The greeting is also from Endless Birthday Wishes, stamped in Mint Macaron, Melon Mambo & Crushed Curry ink.  The bottom of the banner was fishtailed with the Banner Triple Punch, then adhered to the background with SNAIL.

Finishing Touches—Peggy used more of the It's My Party DSP to create the 1/2" x 1-1/4" and 3/4" x 1-3/4" mini banners, fishtailed at the bottom with Paper Snips.  They are SNAILed onto the background, too, then the layer was wrapped & tied with the Mint Macaron Baker's Twine from the retiring Combo Pack.  After adhering the entire layer onto a Mint Macaron card base, she added Rhinestone Jewels to the candle flames and colored them with a permanent alcohol-based yellow marker, like a Sharpie or Copic Marker.

Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
