Penguin Place Happy Birthday Cards
The Penguin Place stamp set has lots of cute little accent images to help you create all kinds of penguin scenes. These two cards combine the balloon and presents to make an adorable birthday card!
Background Basics—I ran a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine using the Stitched With Whimsy dies to create that fun stitched border. I adhered that layer onto a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock, then mounted it onto a Soft Sea Foam card base.
Balloon Layer—I stamped the balloon string image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the side of a 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black, too, then adhered it to the card front. I finished by adding a 3-3/4" x 3/4" strip of Penguin Playmates Designer Serie Paper across the bottom.
Pretty Penguin—I stamped the penguin in Memento Black ink onto Basic White, then punch it with the Penguin Builder Punch. I added a nose image in Pumpkin Pie and a bowtie in Fresh Freesia. I finished by punching some feet in Pumpkin Pie cardstock and added those with Glue Dots. The penguin is popped up with Dimensionals.
Birthday Décor—I stamped the balloon image in Fresh Freesia ink, and presents in Fresh Freesia, Soft Sea Foam and Misty Moonlight onto Basic White scrap. I hand-cut the images with my super-sharp Paper Snips, then attached them to the card front with Dimesionals or SEAL Adhesive. I finished by coloring a few Rhinestone Jewels with a Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends Marker and floating them around the sentiment. So festive and cute!
Two Cool—My second version is nearly identical, I just swapped some of the colors. The stitched background is in Soft Sea Foam, layered on Misty Moonlight and mounted onto a Just Jade card base. I used a different pattern of Penguin Playmates DSP.
Punched Penguin—This time, instead of stamping the penguin, I punched a black and white cardstock layer with the Penguin Builder Punch and adhered them together. I stamped the eyes in Memento Black, the nose in Pumpkin Pie and the tie in Fresh Freesia ink. I finished with punched Pumpkin Pie feet.
Finishing Touches—The balloon is in Fresh Freesia and the gifts are in Just Jade, Fresh Freesia and Misty Moonlight. Love it!
