Penguin Place DSP Card Front Cards
This fun-fold style card is perfect for showcasing the beauty of both sides of the Stampin' Up! quality Designer Series Paper! It's also a quick way to assemble a stack of cards! If you select the Countdown To Christmas 12-Card Kit, you'll have all the pieces to create all four cards shown here. Please note: all four cards will have a stamped penguin, even though I'm sharing one version with a pre-printed penguin that's cut directly from the Penguin Playmates DSP.
If you earn the 5-Card LIVE Class Kit, you'll create this Misty Moonlight version shown below in your kit.
Background Basics—The card base is 5-1/2" x 5-1/4" and scored at the 4-1/4" mark along the 5-1/4" side. This creates a short panel for the card front that's decorated with a 3/4" x 5-1/4" strip of Penguin Playmates DSP. Next, I adhered a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP to the back of that short panel to create a card front.
Inside The Card—When you open the card, you can see the back side of the DSP…isn't that fun! I stamped a Penguin Place sentiment in Memento Black ink onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White for the inside layer.
Sweet Sentiment Layer—I die-cut a Basic White circle and Fresh Freesia scallop circle with the help of the Layering Circles Dies. I stamped the Penguin Place sentiment in Memento Black ink onto the circle and popped it up onto the card front with Dimensionals.
Cool Penguin—I stamped the penguin image in Memento Black ink onto Basic White cardstock, then punched it out with the Penguin Builder Punch. I also stamped the foot image twice in Pumpkin Pie ink onto Basic White scrap and punched those out with the punch. They are adhered to the back of the penguin. After stamping a beak in Pumpkin Pie ink onto the penguin, it was attached to the circle with SEAL Adhesive.
I stamped the scarf and hat in Just Jade ink onto Basic White cardstock, then hand-cut them out with super-sharp Paper Snips. They are attached with Glue Dots. So cute!
Finishing Touches—I colored some Rhinestone Jewels with the Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends Marker and added them around the circle's edge.
Two Cool—This second version was made the same way with a Fresh Freesia card base and a different pattern from the Penguin Playmates DSP pack.
Cool Penguin—This penguin is pre-printed in full color, cut directly from the Penguin Playmates DSP. There are a gazillion little characters—polar bears, foxes, bunnies, snowmen and penguins—that you can cut out and use as elements on your holiday projects! Too Cool! This card was created by Selene Kempton and it's just an example of how you can use these pre-printed images.
Sweet Sentiment Layer—This layer is in Just Jade and adorned with Pearls.
Please Note: Your Countdown To Christmas kit will have supplies for a stamped version of the penguin, not a pre-printed character. You'll also use Rhinestones on all the cards, not pearls.
Three Cool—Third version starts with a Just Jade card base, with a Fresh Freesia scallop circle and Balmy Blue hat and scarf. I colored the Rhinestones in Just Jade Blends this time.
Four Cool—The final version from the Countdown To Christmas kit has a Soft Sea Foam card base, Misty Moonlight scallop circle and Fresh Freesia hat and scarf. The Rhinestones are in Just Jade for this one, too.
