Perennial Birthday Designer Series Paper Block Cards

Hi Stamping Friends,

I mentioned yesterday that now is the time to stock up on your favorite Designer Series Papers now, before the official 2019 Retired List is released in the next couple of weeks. Historically, Stampin' Up! retires all of the DSP to make room for brand new designs that are fresh & trendy.

Other stampers like to use up their soon-to-be-retired Designer Series Paper, since they only like to create with papers that match current colors. That's what I like to do! So I'm using up my papers on all kinds of products right now!

Today, I'm sharing a couple cool cards that have backgrounds created with blocks of coordinating Designer Series Papers. It's a great way to play with the papers and use up those scraps!

Perennial Birthday DSP blocks - two cool

Perennial Birthday Designer Series Paper Block Cards

If you have lots of Designer Series Paper scraps, put them to good use and create a cool blocked panel background for a birthday or thinking of you card. I'm always in need of masculine cards, so I designed these to be a good one for the guys!

Background Basics—I featured the Wood Textures 6" x 6" DSP on this card. I love how this one turned out. It reminds me of the trends in home décor right now with lots of grays mixed with natural woods and metals. I started with a 4" x 5-1/4" layer in Basic Gray than added a variety of different wood patterns:

Left top: 1-1/2" x 3-1/2"
Left bottom: 2-1/8" x 1-3/8"
Right top: 2-1/8" x 2-1/4"
Right middle: 2-1/8" x 1-1/4"
Right bottom: 1-1/2" x 1-3/8"

Once I adhered all the blocks with SNAIL adhesive, I mounted the layer onto a Gray Granite card base with SNAIL.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Perennial Birthday sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black onto a 3-1/4" x 7/8" strip of Very Vanilla cardstock. I layered it onto a 3-3/8" x 1" piece of Copper Foil, then popped up with Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches—I finished up with a smattering of Rhinestone Jewels that were colored with Stampin' Blends Markers. I used Light Basic Black, Bronze and Dark Soft Suede to alter the jewels. I LOVE how these brighten up the natural wood background!
