Petal Palette Sweet Songbird Cards
My favorite overall suite of products in the Occasions Catalog is hands-down the Petal Passion suite! I love the beautiful & versatile black & white watercolor stamped images and printed paper patterns! Simply add a pop or two of color and your projects come together effortlessly!
I've stamped with the floral images from Petal Palette several times, but this is the first project with that sweet little bird. Isn't he just darling?
Background Basics—I adhered a 4" x 2-1/2" piece of the striped Petal Passions Designer Series Paper along the bottom of a vertically-folded Basic Black card base. The top background is a 4" x 2-3/4" layer of Lemon Lime Twist that's been embossed with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Texture Impressions Folder. The leaves texture provides a beautifully coordinated background for the focal point! For a secure hold, I recommend using Tear & Tape Adhesive or Fast Fuse to adhere the textured layer.
I wrapped Bermuda Bay 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon around the card front and tied it into a double-knot to "tie" the two backgrounds together.
Sweet Sentiment Layer—I stamped the Petal Palette sentiment at the bottom of a 2-3/4" Whisper White square in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Stamping the sentiment first allowed me to better position the placement of the branch image. The layer is adhered to a Basic Black 3" scallop square created with the Layering Squares Framelits.
Sweet Songbird—I stamped the bird in Memento Black onto a scrap of Whisper White, then colored him in with the Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends Markers. I hand-cut the bird before I realized that, duh, I have a die for that image in the Petals & More Thinlits! LOL! I popped him up with Dimensionals.
Bundle It & SAVE—Purchase the Petal Palette stamp set and the Petals & More Thinlits together in a bundle to save 10%!
Finishing Touches—I added a couple of Rhinestone Jewels for some sparkle.
Two Cool—My second card begins with a tiny bloom pattern from the Petal Passion DSP at the bottom. The top So Saffron layer is embossed with the new Simple Stripes embossing folder. I rotated the cardstock in the folder so that the texture would be diagonal…how fun! This one is wrapped with the Crushed Curry Mini Chevron Ribbon.
