Fancy Fan Faux Patina Fun!
All of my Faux Patina projects use the same basic technique that you can learn on my Faux Patina Video Tutorial. You can find more info on the technique at my Faux Patina Resource Page.
Each pair of two cool projects I'm showing this week started with a 1/4 sheet of either Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock. I created the background on the sheet first, then cut up the sheet to use on two separate creations.
I love the retro color combination for this card featuring Christmas Collectibles ornaments: Soft Suede, Midnight Muse, Always Artichoke and Pistachio Pudding. I cut my Faux Patina background to 3" x 4" and layered it on a 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Midnight Muse.
(click to enlarge to see the details up close)
Step-by-Step Faux Patina Recipe:
- Ink Fancy Fan Texture Impressions Folder with Pistachio Pudding ink, and emboss Very Vanilla card stock.
- Sponge on Baked Brown Sugar Ink
- Sponge on Always Artichoke Ink
- Lightly sponge on Midnight Muse Ink
- Stamp Gorgeous Grunge (wood) stripes over entire piece with VersaMark Ink
- Sprinkle on Silver Embossing Powder and heat with a Heat Tool until glossy and smooth
I absolutely LOVE the look of the Gorgeous Grunge stripes with this
technique!
I colored the Christmas Collectibles (wood) ornaments with Soft Suede, Always Artichoke, Midnight Muse and Pistachio Pudding markers. The bold images are easy to color, and they're easy to cut out with the coordinating Christmas Ornament Punch. Add some Linen Thread for the hangers.
Bundle It & Save—Order the Christmas Collectibles (wood) stamp set and Christmas Ornament Punch together in the Christmas Collectibles Bundle (wood) and save 15%.
I finished off the card with a Silver Embossed More Merry Messages (wood) stamp set on a 3" x 1-1/4" piece of Pistachio Pudding. Even the Rhinestone Jewels have a retro feel!

My second project is a Hershey's Candy Bar holder…learn how to make it here: Candy Bar Pull Treat Holder.
The holder is created with a piece of the Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper with a Pear Pizzazz Chevron Ribbon pull. I used the left-over 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of my Faux Patina background to decorate the front of my holder.
I decorated it with the Festive Flurry (wood) stamp set and Festive Flurry Framelits, creating layers with Silver Glimmer Paper, Always Artichoke card stock, Always Artichoke ink and Pistachio Pudding ink. Gorgeous! It's topped with a Large Rhinestone Jewel.
Bundle It & Save—Purchase the Festive Flurry stamp set and Festive Flurry Framelits together in the Festive Flurry Bundle (wood) and save 15% off the price of purchasing them separately.
October Countdown To Christmas—Features the Festive Flurry set! Register by September 18!
