Playing With Patterns Tapered Boxes

Hi Stamping Friends!

Last night, I gathered with my Too Cool Stampers Team during our monthly Stamp & Share event!  I love being able to spend time with my team!  Even though we've had to get together via Zoom video rather than in my local studio, it's allowed us to interact with our many team members from around the country and for that I'm very grateful!

Each month, I create a little gift for those team members who register for my event and today I'm sharing the adorable little treat box I made for this month's event.

Playing With Patterns Tapered Boxes
I created these adorable little tapered boxes for my teammates and I just love how they turned out!  I found the template for the boxes at The Paper Pixie and you can view Julie DiMatteo's tutorial here: Large Tapered Treat Boxes Tutorial

Box Basics—I have the basic measurements for the box template, but I recommend clicking on Julie's tutorial to better understand how the box is assembled. The box begins with a 9-3/4" x 7-1/2" piece of cardstock. Score along the 7-1/2" at 2-1/4" and 5-1/4". Score along the 9-3/4" side at 2-1/4", 4-1/2", 6-3/4" and 8-1/4". Julie has a template to help you cut away the appropriate pieces and you can see it on her blog here. You can get two boxes out of one piece of cardstock.

Stampin' SEAL+ Is Amazing!—This is the first project that I really put the new SEAL+ Adhesive to the test and it passed with flying colors!  SEAL+ is a step up from the SEAL adhesive and has a super-strong hold, similar to the old FUSE Adhesive or current Tear & Tape Adhesive. It's been really humid here in Indiana, too, and my boxes stayed together really well!  I'm so happy to have this ultra-hold adhesive alternative!  Too Cool "seal" of approval from me…pun intended!

Box Décor—I decorated the box with the Playing With Patterns 6×6" Designer Series Paper.  I cut a 2-7/8" x 2-1/8" piece for both the front and back of the box and a 2-7/8" x 1-3/8" piece for the smaller panel on the top. I did not add DSP to the flap, because I just wanted to tuck that into the box to keep it closed.

I die-cut a Coastal Cabana Stitched So Sweetly label and added a 2-1/2" x 1/2" strip of Night of Navy across the middle of it and popped it up with Dimensionals onto the box front. I found the perfect sentiment in the Simply Citrus Kit and stamped in onto Whisper White cardstock with Night of Navy ink.  It's die-cut with the Tasteful Labels circle and popped up with Dimensionals. I finished by adding a coordinating Purple Posy Playing With Pattern Resin Dot.

You can see that the box is a nice size, so it easily holds fun-size candy and lots of other gifts!  I rounded the corners of the flap closure with the Detailed Trio Punch.

I tied some of the sheer Coastal Cabana ribbon from the Playing With Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack around the top for a little texture.

Two Cool—I created a second version with a Coastal Cabana cardstock box and a different Playing With Patterns DSP design.

This time, I layered the sentiment onto a Purple Posy label and topped it with a Coastal Cabana Resin Dot. I finished with a Purple Posy and White ribbon from the suite's Ribbon Combo Pack.

Three Cool—My third version has a Night of Navy box base and yet another pattern from Playing With Patterns DSP.

I layered a Coastal Cabana strip onto a Purple Posy label this time and finished up with a Crushed Curry Resin Dot.

I just love how these turned out!  Thanks to Julie DiMatteo for the awesome project idea!
