Poinsettia Petals Warm Wishes Cards
There are so many ways to create pretty poinsettia flowers with the help of the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and Poinsettia Dies! Yesterday, I shared a simple stamped poinsettia. Today, I'm sharing a combination of stamping and die-cutting to create a lovely layered flower. I'll be showing how cool the die-cut & embossed layered flowers look on tomorrow's cards.
The first card will be part of the 5-Card Poinsettia Petals LIVE Class Kit and those getting the 12-Card Countdown To Christmas Class will be able to make all 4 cards shown!
Background Basics—I began by adhering a 2" x 5-1/2" piece of Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper on a Pear Pizzazz card base and tying some Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the card front.
Pretty Poinsettia—I stamped the three Poinsettia Petals poinsettia flower layers in Crumb Cake ink onto Whisper White cardstock, then brushed on some shimmering Wink of Stella glimmer. The flowers are die-cut with the Poinsettia Dies. I used a Bone Folder to gently curl each poinsettia petal, then I bent the petals up at the flower center. I found that I liked the staggered layers adhered together with Glue Dots. In this photo, I used Dimensionals to pop up each layer, which looks amazing, but will cost more in postage because of the thickness of the card. Just something to keep in mind.
Finishing Touches—I created the Gold Foil flower center with the help of a small die from the Poinsettia Dies. It cuts the shape and embosses the circles texture in one pass through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. I added a couple of Gilded Gems floating around the flower.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Poinsettia Petals sentiment onto a Whisper White Stitched Rectangles die-cut shape in Soft Suede ink. I adhered a 3" x 1/2" strip of Gold Foil onto the card front, then popped up the sentiment over the top with Dimensionals.
Two Cool—For the second version of this card, I experimented with a different Poinsettia Place DSP pattern and used a coordinating Soft Seafoam card base.
Three & Four Cool—Just for fun, I swapped the pinecone and floral DSP patterns onto the other color of card base for the third and fourth cards from the Countdown To Christmas class. I also tried Shaded Spruce ink for the sentiment, but I think I like the Soft Suede better.
