Hi Stamping Friends!

We are on day 5 of our Project Sheet Week.  Every day thru January 10, I'll be sharing two cool printable Project Sheets featuring brand new products 2018 Occasions Catalog and awesome annual Sale-a-Bration promotion!

One of the cool new products in the Occasions Catalog is Brusho Crystal Colour. Today, I'm sharing a couple of Sure Do Love You cards created with these unique watercolor ink crystals!

What Is Brusho Crystal Colour?—Mix these highly pigmented watercolor ink crystals with water and watch the rich color explode into beautiful, textured blends.  It's fun for creating watercolor washed backgrounds, as well as as a way to color embossed images with bursts of bold color!  Watch the video for an introduction to this too cool coloring medium: Working With Brusho Video.

Sure Do Love You Brusho Hearts Card

You can use the Brusho crystals to create your own watercolor washed paper to use for die-cuts!  We're only using the Brilliant Red color here, but you could try blending some of the other four colors for one-of-a-kind, custom decorative paper!

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Stamp the Star of Light swirl in Smoky Slate ink on the 3-3/4” x 5” Whisper White cardstock.
  2. Stamp Sure Do Love You sentiment in Basic Gray ink on the top right corner.
  3. Sprinkle some of the red Brusho crystals onto the Shimmery White Cardstock.
  4. Lightly mist over the Brusho crystals with water in a Stampin’ Spritzer.
  5. For a more intense color, add more Brusho Crystals and use the Aqua Painter to move color around on the paper, as desired.
  6. Let paper dry, then die-cut 5 assorted sizes of hearts with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits and Lots To Love Box Framelits. Adhere over swirl with Multipurpose or Dimensionals.
  7. Die-cut a row of Silver Glimmer Paper small hearts with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.
  8. Add 2 silver Metallic Enamel hearts to card front.
  9. Adhere 4” x 5-1/4” Silver Glimmer to Powder Pink card base with SNAIL.
  10. Adhere stamped piece to Silver Glimmer using Multipurpose Glue.

Sure Do Love You Brusho Wash Card

My favorite way to use Brusho is with the Emboss Resist technique.  I like embossing in either Clear or White Embossing Powder and then watching that image emerge after washing on the Brusho color!  It's a simple way to make a really bold & stunning focal point!

We're using Shimmery White as the wash paper for these projects, but you could use Watercolor Paper in place of that if you want.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Stamp Sure Do Love You sentiment in VersaMark ink onto 2-3/4” x 3-3/4” Shimmery White cardstock, sprinkle on Clear Embossing Powder, tap off excess. Set with the Heat Tool until glossy & smooth.
  2. With a pushpin tack, pierce a hole in the lid of the Brilliant Red Brusho. No need to remove the safety seal or the cap as this will make it hard to control how much watercolor crystals you add to your project. Remove the pin and sprinkle some of the Brusho Crystals on to your paper over the embossed image. Replace pin in the hole to “cap” the Brusho for storage.
  3. Lightly mist the Shimmery White cardstock with the Stampin’ Spritzer 1 or 2 times directly over the Brusho crystals. (Option: if you are using Watercolor paper you can spritz 3 times).
  4. Starting in the upper left corner of the paper, use the AquaPainter to swish the color back and forth all the way down to the bottom of the paper to reveal the embossed image. For a more intense color, add more Brusho Crystals and repeat brushing with the AquaPainter.
  5. Place damp paper on a scrap paper. To avoid curling, place it face down on the paper and lay something heavy on top (for example: a large clear block). Let image dry.
  6. When image is dry, use Tear & Tape to attach it to the black cardstock layer. The Tear & Tape will insure the paper will stick and stay flat even if it is curling.
  7. Pop up the embossed piece onto a 3” x 4” Gold Foil layer with Dimensionals. Adhere to Basic Black card base.
  8. Knot Shimmer Black Ribbon, then attach the ribbon to the card with a Glue Dot.
