ADORABLE! That's what these little spring baskets are! You won't believe how quickly these super-cute treat holders come together! I had so much fun making them, that I had to create them in every Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper color—Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Highland Heather and Balmy Blue! There is still plenty of time to get the supplies on order and make these for your Easter dinner table or to hand out to your kids or grandkids. They're a super-fun project to do with your children, as well, so they could take some treats in to their classmates!
Watch my April 4 Facebook LIVE video for a complete tutorial for this Easter Basket project!
Thanks to Ronda Wade for this fun project idea!
Background Basics—These baskets start with a 6" x 6" piece of cardstock and it's surprising how much fits inside! The basket above has a mini Reese's Peanut Butter Egg and about 10 Rolos. The perfect size!
- Score a 6" x 6" piece of cardstock and score a the 2" and 4" marks on both sides.
- Cut both score lines on one side up to the intersecting score line.
- Rotate 180° and cut both score lines on the opposite side up to the intersecting score line.
- Fold on all the remaining score lines.
- Adhere 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" squares of Gingham Gala DSP to each of the corners with SNAIL.
- Add a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive to the out edge of both middle flaps.
- Peel the backing off the tape. Bring the corner points together then push them onto the center flap tape.
- Secure the corner of the outer flap by tucking a Glue Dot under it using a Piercing Tool.
- Adhere a 1/2" x 6" strip of matching Gingham Gala DSP to a 3/4" x 6" strip of coordinating cardstock for the handle.
- Add a piece of Tear & Tape to each end on the DSP side.
- Use a Bone Folder to curve the handle, like you're curling curly ribbon.
- Adhere the ends of the handle so they rest on the inside middle flap like a ledge.
Basket Filler—I filled the inside of my baskets with some retired white Sweet Soiree Ready Shreddie, which just happens to be in the Clearance Rack right now for just $3.00! The huge 6 oz bag comes with three colors of shreddie: Berry Burst, White and Silver.
Delightful Daisy—I decorated the front of my basket with a pretty daisy! I punched two Whisper White flowers with the Daisy Punch, then curled each petal with a Bone Folder and layered together with a Dimensional. It's attached to the basket with another Dimensional.
Finishing Touches—For the flower centers, I embossed the coordinating color with the Subtle Dynamic Texture Impressions Folder, then punch out a 1/2" circle with the 1/2" Circle Punch. It's popped up with another Dimensional, then colored with a little Wink of Stella for some shimmer!
Which color basket is your favorite? I'm pretty partial to Highland Heather!
