Hi Stamping Friends!
Well, I thought I'd have a sneak peek of my "Last Thursdays" cards to show you this morning, but alas, I'm still working on them. I can give you a hint, though. Most of the cards will highlight our gorgeous Designer Series Papers, to feature the awesome Buy 3, Get 1 FREE DSP promotion going on now through the end of the month.
Be sure to RSVP by today at 5pm if you want to attend tomorrow's class.
Today, I'm posting about my Convention roommate gift—a Convention Survival Kit, of sorts! I forgot to take a group shot of all my kits, but I made one for myself as a sample.
I used one of the half-sized wood-mount stamp cases—the perfect size! You can store all kinds of items in these handy little cases! And, best of all, you can customize them with your favorite Designer Papers and embellishments to match any mood or décor!
I chose the Modern Medley DSP for my kits, and added highlights in Elegant Eggplant (to match our Convention shirts) and Bermuda Bay.
I personalized each kit with my roommate's name using the ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers. I've said it before, and I'll say it again…these letters are the perfect size for monograming LOTS of things, including cards and gifts. It's a must-have for any stamp collection! It's SO easy to line up, even without a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig! If it's off a bit, it still looks good!
You could also get the coordinating Outline Alphabet & Numbers to use alone or in combination with the Sketch version. Be sure to get at least one set. I've got the Outline set on my wishlist!
The flower is created with three layers punched from the Pansy Punch, using the Brights Patterns Paper Stack. Each layer is crumpled and adhered to each other, then attached to the front, with Dimensionals. A Large Rhinestone Jewels looks great in the center.
I decorated the spine and back of the of the box with more Modern Medley DSP. The spine is monogrammed on Very Vanilla and punched with the Petite Curly Label Punch.
The DSP slides easily into the sleeves on the outside of the box, but since the sleeve is open at the top and bottom, I used a couple dots of SNAIL adhesive on the papers to keep them from sliding.
The front and back papers measure 5" x 3-1/4". The spine paper measures 1" x 3-1/4".
TIP: These boxes are made for stacking, so be sure to insert your papers with the track side down. The track will help stabilize the box when it's standing on your shelf, and it interlocks with boxes when it's stacked. I accidently assembled some of my gifts upside-down before I realized there was some logic behind it. Ooops!
I added all kinds of personalized goodies on the inside of my survival kit! Since the boxes are clear, the DSP shows through, so the inside is already decorated! Bonus!
First, I added some Post-It flags that my friends could use to highlight their catalogs when they saw an item that they needed to add to their wishlist. Just like our customers do at our classes, our wishlists grow and grow when we attend a Stampin' Up! event! Watch out, we've got some great ideas for you! You've been warned!
I decorated a mini-composition notebook that my roommates could use for taking notes or creating a wishlist during the presentations. My Morning Post monogram is punched with the Artisan Label Punch, then layered with another punch in Elegant Eggplant.
Convention days are long, but some Trident gum helps keep attendees fresh and smiling! I wrapped up the gum box with more Modern Medley paper, snipped out a pull-tab notch with the Small Oval Punch, then decorated it with a very appropriate sentiment from the Happy Day stamp set.
I die-cut the word with the Apothecary Accents Framelits, then added some cute Itty Bitty Shapes accent flowers with Rhinestone Jewels.
With nearly 6000 people in attendance, and all of us crowded into one place, It's important to take precaution against germs. My Aqua Blossom Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer (chosen specifically for the color to match) was also decorated and monogrammed. I punched the letter with the 3/4" Circle Punch which fit nicely inside of an Elegant Eggplant Mosaic Madness punch. I decorated the back with paper, too.
TIP: Getting the angle of the bottle was a bit tricky. I free-handed it on scrap paper, and when I got it cut the shape that worked best, I used that as a template for the others.
