September's "Last Thursdays" Card Class

Thursday, September 29, 2016, 6:30pm.  RSVP by Wednesday, September 28, at 5pm.

Create 4 cards using Too Cool techniques, plus envelopes.  This month, we'll be featuring fall-themed all-occasion cards & some awesome stamping techniques. This class is perfect for any level stamper, but it's designed for new stampers to get a feel for the basics!

Trio of Totally Trees Cards

I had so much fun playing with the new Totally Trees two-step stamp set! 

The set has 7 different trees and 7 different coordinating tree shapes, along with all kinds of accent stamps to embellish the trees.  There are 27 images in all!

Background Basics—I started with a 5-1/2" x 2-1/4" piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock, embossed with the Softly Falling Texture Impressions Folder.  I adhered that on a Pool Party card base, then added a 5-1/2" x 1/4" strip of Silver Glimmer Paper above it.

Terrific Trees—I stamped three Totally Trees tree images in Archival Black Ink on a 3-1/2" x 3" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then, I stamped images from the set that corresponded with the shape of the tree.  I stamped those in Pear Pizzazz, Sweet Sugarplum and Pool Party.

I matted the stamped layer onto a 4" x 3-1/4" piece of Sweet Sugarplum at a skewed angle, then popped up the layers with Dimensionals. 

Sweet Sentiment—I finished the card by stamping words from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set in Archival Black Ink onto a 2-1/2" x 1/2" strip of Pear Pizzazz card stock.  I fishtailed one end and kept the other flush with the edge.

Finishing Touches—I added a Rhinestone Jewel to each tree and a large rhinestone near the sentiment for a little eye-catching detail.

Two Cool—For my second version, I embossed a 5-1/2" x 2-1/2" Pool Party layer with the Petal Burst Folder, then adhered that on a Rich Razzleberry card base.  A little flip-flop of the colors!

I straightened out the focal point, because I have a hard time with cockeyed layers. And, I also played with some different tree shapes and a different sentiment.  Fun, fun card to make!
