Stampin' Up! creates most of their designer series papers as double-sided sheets with pretty coordinating patterns on each side. Sometimes the patterns are so lovely that it makes it difficult to choose which side to use and which side to cover up!
Today's card design allows you to show off BOTH sides of the paper! It was a card style that was presented by Shelli Gardner and Sara Douglass, Stampin' Up! co-founder and CEO respectively, at the OnStage event last month. It was definitely a "wow" card for me, that's also so easy to create!
Background Basics—The card base starts with a 5-1/4" x 5-1/2" Mint Macaron piece, scored at the 1" mark along the 5-1/4" side. That creates a small flap for the front of the card. Then, adhere a 4" x 5-1/2" piece of the Share What You Love DSP to the flap to create the card front. You could use a 4-1/4" wide piece that would be easier to line up along the inside score line of the card, but I liked that with a 4" wide piece, I could get 6 card fronts out of a 12" x 12" sheet of DSP.
Adhering The DSP—To adhere it, I added some Tear & Tape to the inside edge of the card base flap, as well as along the edge of the DSP along the front side of the sheet. After peeling off the backing paper from the strips, I lined up the DSP to the outer edge of the card then folded the flap over the top. In the photo above, you can see that the DSP is about 1/4" from the inside score line.
Now, when you open the card front, you can see the back-side of the DSP on the inside of the card! Totally Too Cool!
Background Accents—I tied some Silver Baker's Twine around the card front for some texture and shine. Then, I created a foundation for the sentiment focal point by adhering a 3" x 1-1/4" piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock with SNAIL to the card front.
Focal Point—I stamped the Love What You Do sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 2-1/8" Whisper White Stitched Shapes square die-cut. Next, I fishtail cut the ends of a 3-1/2" x 1/2" Grapefruit Grove strip and adhered it to the back of the sentiment. The whole layer was then popped up with Dimensionals. I finished with a couple of mint Artisan Pearls at the bottom of the square.
Two Cool—My second version features my favorite pattern from the Share What You Love DSP. I LOVE the colors and it's one of the four patterns to have the pearlized accents on the flowers! It's attached to a Tranquil Tide card base.
Here's what the inside of that version looks like with the double-sided paper. How lovely!
This time I adhered the 3" x 1-1/4" Old Olive element flush to the outer edge of the card near the bottom of the card front.
The banner strip is in Mint Macaron this time and I positioned the layers to overlap the card base flap on the left side. I love how this card turned out! Isn't this a fun way to show off the beautiful Stampin' Up! DSP? I can't wait to try this style of card with lots of my favorite papers!
