Simply Sketched Blue Bird

____________________________________________________________________

Hi Stamping Friends!

I've had this pretty card on my mind ever since I saw it a few days ago, so as soon as I woke up this morning, I CASEd it!

Simply sketched wood - two cool

It only took about 25 minutes to create these two cool cards featuring the lovely Simply Sketched Hostess stamps set!

CASEd from Janine Tinklenberg at Stamps, Paper, Scissors.

My first card is an nearly identical copy of Jan Tink's card—isn't it simply gorgeous?  Or, as Jan would say, "GOJUS"!

I started by embossing a 4" x 5-1/4" Very Vanilla layer with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.

Then, I stamped the bird image on the card front and on scrap card stock in Baked Brown Sugar.  Using the Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe ink pads and a Blender Pen, I colored in the second bird, cut him out and popped him up. Awww, he's so cute!

I used a sentiment from Wetlands, also in Baked Brown Sugar.  The sentiments from Wetlands and Simply Sketched are so elegantly scripted and interchangeable!  I could use them on every.single.card.

I loved the natural Woodgrain texture and the Linen Thread elements on this card—they really add to the outdoorsy feel.

The embossed Baked Brown Sugar card stock is 4" x 1-1/4", layered onto 4" x 1-3/8" Crisp Cantaloupe card stock, and finally onto 4" x 1-1/2" Coastal Cabana card stock. I added all the layers onto the Very Vanilla stamped layer, then added the embellishments.

The Linen Thread is wrapped around three times and tied in a knot before threading the ends through the Very Vintage Designer Button.  To keep the button in place, I added a couple Glue Dots on the back, then tied the bow.

After all the elements were in place, I adhered the entire card front to a Coastal Cabana card base.

My horizontal version uses a sentiment from the Simply Sketched set.

I changed the direction of the woodgrain and added a larger button, because I'm too cool like that.
