Hi Stamping Friends!
My Too Cool Demo Team had a Shoebox Swap event last night—what a FUN night of stamping! The 8 attendees brought supplies for us to create 8 different make & takes. Stay tuned…I'll be featuring them on upcoming posts.
But, we actually had TWO cool swaps going on! The second swap was more of a traditional swap of card fronts that anyone in my downline could participate in, even if they were not local. We had 12 participants in that one, so by the end of the night, we were loaded up with LOTS of great ideas!
This was the card design that I created for the card front swap. I love the soft colors and, aside from punching out all of the Paper Doily holes, it goes together very quickly. I may have to make a few more for Convention.
Inspired by cards from Chiaki Haverstick and Diane Sisneros.
I love the soft Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding colors in the Venetian Romance Papers, so I've been dying to make a card with them! (Don't forget it's the perfect time to stock up with the Buy 3, Get 1 FREE Designer Series Paper promotion!)
The papers measure 4" x 3" for the Pistachio, and 4" x 2.-1/4" for the Cantaloupe patterns. They are adhered to a Very Vanilla card base.
Paper Doily Die-Cut—The elegant scallop die-cut is created with the Paper Doily Sizzlit. I used my Paper Piercing Tool to help me poke out all of those hole pieces.
TIP #1: You can run a Bone Folder across the doily, kind of like you are curling ribbon, to loosen up the pieces to help them pop out.
TIP #2: Some of those holes don't always cut completely because of the calibration of my Big Shot, so I have to add a sheet of card stock to my "sandwich" when I run it through the machine. That extra sheet makes it tough to crank through, but it guarantees clean cuts. Results on your Big Shot may vary, as the pressure differs slightly between machines.
Simply Sketched Stamping—I used the Circles Collection Framelits to
die-cut a Very Vanilla circle, then stamped on the Simply Sketched flower and sentiment
images in StazOn Black.
Next, I stamped the Simply Sketched leaves images in Pistachio Pudding to create foliage along the bottom of the circle.
Watercoloring—I love the watercolor look with these sketched images! I used a Blender Pen to pick up Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe ink and color the images. Just smoosh those ink pads together before you open them, and you'll transfer a palette of ink onto the lid.
TIP: Start by coloring a light layer of the color over the entire flower. Then, add a second layer of the same color in the spots you want to shade and pull the color toward the outer edges of the flower to create nice gradation.
The card is finished off with a Very Vanilla Seam Binding bow adhered with a Glue Dot.
