Simply Zinnias Flower Trio Thank You Cards
The first card from my Simply Zinnias LIVE Class features the large images that is so much fun to color with your favorite coloring medium! Mine, hands-down, is Stampin’ Blends Markers! I love how you can get bold colors, like you see in my card, and soft colors, like the swap card shown below, with these versatile markers.
Background Basics
I started by embossing a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock with the Zinnias Embossing Folder and mounting it onto a Gorgeous Grape card base. Next, I added two pieces of the Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper to the lower half of the card front: 4″ x 1-1/2″ and 4″ x 1/2″.
Focal Point
The background of the focal point is a Basic White Countryside Corners die-cut label. I stamped the Simply Zinnias dotted images across the bottom in Fresh Freesia ink, then mounted the label onto the card front with SEAL Adhesive.
I stamped the Simply Zinnia flower trio image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White cardstock. I colored the image with Stampin’ Blends markers starting with Lemon Lime Twist for the stems and leaves. The flowers are colored in Berry Burst, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather, all with Pumpkin Pie centers. It’s die-cut with the Zinnia Dies and popped up with Dimensionals onto the label.
Sweet Sentiment
I stamped the Simply Zinnia sentiment in Memento Black onto a Fresh Freesia Countryside Corners die-cut label. It’s also popped up.
Finishing Touches
I finished by adding Purple Fine Shimmer Gems in all three colors to match the three colors of blooms. So sweet!
Two Cool
Here’s a lovely swap card that I received from Laura Barto using the same Simply Zinnias flower trio with Stampin’ Blends and a lovely inking technique.
Background Basics
Laura’s card begins with a 4″ x 4″ piece of Flowering Zinnias DSP onto a Bubble Bath card base. She embossed a 2-7/8″ x 5″ piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock with the Zinnias Folder and adhered that to the middle of the card front.
Focal Point
I love the technique that Laura used to created the flowers! She stamped the Simply Zinnias image in a light color, which looks like Crumb Cake, then before stamping, she used a Sponge Dauber to add a bit of Gorgeous Grape ink to the flower centers directly onto the rubber stamp. She stamped that onto Basic White and die-cut it with the Zinnias Dies. Next, she used some Blends Markers to add soft color to the image. The leaves are in Lemon Lime Twist and you can see she added color that didn’t fill the entire image, so it looks more like a watercolor. For the blooms, she added Daffodil Delight to the stamens and Bubble Bath to the petals, again adding color with lots of white showing for more of a watercolor look. Too Cool!
Here’s another cool technique: the flowers are popped up with Dimensionals at the top, but the stems are adhered directly to the paper.
Finishing Touches
Laura stamped the Simply Zinnias sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink onto a 4″ x 1/2″ piece of Basic White. Before popping it up with Dimensionals, she added a folded piece of the now retired Bubble Bath Sheer Ribbon. So pretty!
