Snow Is Glistening Sponged Tree Cards
Background Basics—I started with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Sparkle Glimmer Paper for the background. TIP: Run the piece through the Big Shot with several of the Snowfall Thinlit snowflakes dies, so you can have those ready to go for this and upcoming projects! You'll never see those holes in the layer anyway, so why waste the middle?!
After die-cutting the snowflakes I adhered it to a Bermuda Bay card base. Next, I layered on a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White, adhered over the top of the Glimmer Paper with Tear & Tape Adhesive. I adhered a 3-3/4" x 1" piece of Balmy Blue across the card front as a foundation for the tree.
Colorful Tree—Using Sponge Daubers, I inked my Snow Is Glistening tree stamp with Coastal Cabana, Balmy Blue and Highland Heather inks. It may be difficult to see where and how much ink you're applying, so I laid my mounted stamp on a white sheet of paper to help the color show through. The Stamparatus could really come in handy here…if you don't get all of the spots covered, you can always go back to ink and stamp it again! Don't forget to stamp a tree trunk in Coastal Cabana, too.
The tree was hand-cut with Paper Snips and popped up onto the card front with Dimensionals.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Snow Is Glistening greeting onto a 2-3/4" x 3/4" piece of Whisper White, then fishtail cut the end. It's adhered with SNAIL over the tree and popped up on the end with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—Now to add some extra sparkly touches to the card! I attached three snowflakes with Glue Dots around the tree. I also tied a Silver Baker's Twine bow and attached that with a pinched Glue Dot. Finally, I used my Wink of Stella brush to color the centers of the snowflakes on the tree. Lovely!
Two Cool—My second card takes the same basic design and steps it up just a bit! This time, I started with a Highland Heather card base and tried an emboss resist technique on the tree.
Extraordinary Embossing—I stamped the Snow Is Glistening Tree onto Whisper White card stock with clear VersaMark ink, then embossed the image with Clear Embossing Powder. Next, I used Sponge Daubers to apply Coastal Cabana, Highland Heather and Balmy Blue ink over the embossed image. I rubbed in small circles to apply, then wiped off excess ink with a tissue.
I also stamped a Snow Is Glistening snowy border along the top of the card in Coastal Cabana ink. Like the first tree, it's hand-cut and popped up with Dimensionals. I also added Rhinestone Jewels to the snowflake centers.
Sweet Sentiment—The sentiment is stamped in Highland Heather this time and I moved the position of the Silver Baker's Twine bow.
