The Southern Serenade stamp set has a lovely floral image that is perfect for coloring with Stampin' Blends Markers, as well as a pretty lace background image that combines for a soft & sweet card. There are also some classic sentiments in this set, making this a nice all-inclusive stamp set for a someone who is just starting to add stamp sets to their collection. But, you've got to get it now, because the Southern Serenade stamp set will be retiring on June 3.
Background Basics—I started by stamping the beautiful Southern Serenade background lace image over the entire 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White background using Sahara Sand ink stamped-off once each time. I mounted the background to a Petal Pink card base.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Southern Serenade sentiment in Calypso Coral ink onto the lower right side of a 4" x 1-1/2" piece of Sahara Sand. I tied on some retiring Vintage Lace Trim into a double-knot faux-bow.
Fantastic Floral—I stamped the Southern Serenade floral image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White, then die-cut it with the Layering Oval dies. These dies will be carrying over in the new catalog—woohoo! I colored the image with Calypso Coral and Old Olive Stampin' Blends Markers. I mounted the floral layer onto a Pear Pizzazz scallop oval die-cut with the Layering Ovals dies, then popped up the focal point with Dimensionals.
TIP: I like to color the entire flower or leaf with the light color first, add some shading with the dark marker, then blend the two with the light marker's bullet tip end.
Finishing Touches—I finished with three pretty Pearls Jewels, because lace and pearls simply go together so beautifully!
Two Cool—I tried a Pool Party combination for the second card. This is one of those cards that would be fun trying in lots of different colors paired with the Sahara Sand neutral color.
Background Basics—This time, I created a horizontal card, stamping the background the same and mounting it onto a Pool Party card base. The Bermuda Bay sentiment is stamped onto a 5-1/4" x 1-1/2" strip of Sahara Sand.
Cool Coloring—I colored the flowers with Pool Party Stampin' Blends and used the light Bermuda Bay Blends marker for the darker centers. The leaves are once again in Old Olive Blends.
