Stamp Club August Challenges

Every month at my Stamp Club I offer challenges for the members to try and I wanted to share a few of the awesome cards that were shared at our event!

Challenge #1: Create a pop-up card

Here's Peggy Tassler's take on the pop-up card.  She used the retired Polka Dot Punches set with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and lots of punches!  Lovely!  You can find the basic tutorial for this style of pop-up at my Punched Posies Pop-Up Card post.

This one is by Carmen DeBruce using the Flight of the Butterfly set and the Beautiful Butterfly Bigz Die.  I really like the use of the ribbon for the butterfly body!  Carmen CASEd this card from Dania Welch.

Both ladies stepped it up a notch by trying out another style of pop-up card, too!

Peggy created this Stair Step Fold (also called a Side Step) pop-up for her daughter's birthday…Wow!  Look at all of those flowers!  They are easy to create with the Blossom Party Die and Bird Punch (for the leaves)—no cutting needed!  I see she also dry embossed some of the flower for added texture, and used the Scallop Trim Corner Punch for more detail.  It's a punch-a-rama!  Awesome job, Peggy!

Carmen had another version using the Scallop Circle Die.  She pre-folded the card stock, then ran it through the Big Shot with the folds inside the cutting blades (so they wouldn't be cut).  She used the Scallop Circles #2 Die, embossed with Petals A Plenty (front) and Elegant Bouquet (inside) for the smaller circles.  More Beautiful Wings butterflies on the inside (well, they ARE great for pop-ups!), and the Modern Label Punch for the sentiment on the front. Carmen sponged a little Frost Shimmer Paint on the embossing to bring out the texture on this beautiful, monochromatic card.  Very pretty!

Challenge #2: Create 3 Cards From One Stamp Set

This challenge was to emphasize the versatility of stamps—you really can get SO many different looks from one set!  Check this out…

Vintage vogue purple orange green - peggy
Vintage vogue orange F tag - peggy
Vintage vogue pink green - peggy

Peggy chose the Vintage Vogue set.  The first two are similar color combos, and both use the "F" stamp.  The first and last cards both have bunches of flowers.  But the different use of colors, paired with different images from the same set, and completely different designs make them very unique!  The first one is my favorite!

I also love the way Peggy is very good about stamping matching envelopes with her card creations!  I wish I would take the time to do this more often.

Season of friendship flowers - carmen
Season of friendship winter - carmen

Carmen chose the Season of Friendship set, and she really showed some versatility with a set that may seem to have less possibilities.  First, she used the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and a White Gel Pen to make a blossoming Spring card.  Then she created a pretty winter scene for her glittery, snowy tree. The set certainly lends itself to creating trees for the seasons, but why not try using the same elements in a different way…

Make the tree into a branch!  And, because she is the punch queen of our group, she created a cute punched cardinal…very creative!  And, finally, she showcased the snowflake image on punched circles highlighted with the Pearl Jewels.

Thanks for the creative inspiration, ladies!
