Stamp-of-the-Month: High Tide Light You Shine Cards

Hi Stamping Friends!

Registration is now open for my May Stamp-of-the-Month Class Kit featuring the beautiful lighthouse images in the High Tide photopolymer stamp set!  I LOVE the serene landscapes that can be created with this set!  The thoughtful phrases in the set are perfect for providing support and encouragement, but you could also pair the images with other birthday or Father's Day greetings for a wonderful masculine card!

Today, I'm sharing a couple of the cards you can create with this class kit!

High Tide Light You Shine Cards

For the first pair of cards from the High Tide class, I couldn't wait to try a "weathered wood" look along with the lovely lighthouses.  I love how it turned out! 

 

Background Basics—I texture embossed a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Sahara Sand card stock with the retiring Woodgrain Folder to get that ocean driftwood texture.  I matted it onto a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic Black. 

 

 

Nautical Accents—I wrapped some Thick White Baker's Twine around the embossed layer and tied into a knot before adhering the layers onto the Cherry Cobbler card base.  I love that the twine gives the nautical look of rope! 

 

Lighthouse Layers—I stamped the High Tide lighthouse image in Island Indigo onto the left edge of a 2-1/2" x 4" piece of Whisper White.  The lighthouse is created with two images, and this first one is the one with 3 solid parts from top to bottom.  I find it easier to stamp that one first.  The second image provides the details at the top of the lighthouse, as well as the shading along the side.  I stamped that one in Smoky Slate.  Practice lining up those two images on scrap paper first to get the hang of it. 

 

Sand—The sand images has a blank notch cut out of it that fits around the bottom of the lighthouse.  No need to mask!  I stamped the sand in Sahara Sand ink.

 

 

Finishing Touches—I finished the focal point by stamping the High Tide sentiment in Tuxedo Black Ink along the side.  It's matted onto a 2-5/8" x 4-1/8" layer of Basic Black, then popped up with Dimensionals.  I finished off the card with a couple of Rhinestone Jewels under the sand!

Two Cool—The second card is the same basic design with some minor changes.  This time I have a Whisper White card base and I stamped the lighthouse in Cherry Cobbler ink.

I adhered the stamped layer to the mat a little bit off-set and it completely gives it a different look!  The twine is frayed on the ends for another subtle detail.
