Sunday Showcase: 5-Sheet Wonder Cards Details

Hi Stamping Friends!

5 sheet wonder - ensemble lgFor today's Sunday Showcase, I thought I'd give you a close-up look at the cards we'll be creating at my TC Stamper Sampler Class coming up on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 6:30pm.

We'll be stamping a whole sheet of cardstock with the Letterpress Winter stamp set, then using a template to cut the stamped paper into pieces to create 10 matching holiday cards!  This technique is called a One-Sheet Wonder.

Then, we'll be stepping it up a notch by using templates on 4 additional sheets of coordinating card stock to create additional elements for those 10 cards—a 5-Sheet Wonder!  It's a fun, fast, and efficient way to create a whole stack of cards!

Class-To-Go Kits are available!

Wonderful sheet

One-Sheet Wonder Basics—Our projects start with a sheet of Whisper White card stock that we'll stamp with snowflakes from the Letterpress Winter photopolymer stamp set.
  • Start with the largest snowflake in Island Indigo.  Stamp in a diagonal pattern and rotate the stamp 90° each time you stamp it.
  • Stamp the medium size snowflake in Perfect Plum in between each of the large flakes.
  • Stamp the smallest snowflake in Blackberry Bliss between the largest ones to fill in the spaces.
  • Stamp the medium snowflake in Soft Sky over any remaining white spots on the sheet.
  • Optional: Add small snowflakes in Island Indigo to fill in the centers of the Perfect Plum flakes.

The templates that I'm using come from the amazing LeeAnn Greff at Flowerbug's Inkspot

A Note About The 5-Sheet Wonder Templates—Since I paid to use these templates, I do not have permission to share the templates or measurements on this post.  My local class will be receiving a print-out of the templates as part of their class kits, but my online kits will only include the template for the stamped sheet.  All of my class kits will have ALL pieces pre-cut for the 4 additional sheets, so you don't need to have those templates to complete my class.  If you wish to have printable copies of the templates, please purchase them from Flowerbug's Inkspot

Card Elements—I used the 5-Sheet Wonder templates, one for each of the coordinating colors: Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Perfect Plum, Island Indigo and Soft Sky.  These will create the basic elements for the cards.  I also needed one additional sheet in each color to make the card bases.  Then, I personalized each card with my own additional layers, silver accents and sentiments.

Let's take a closer look at each card we'll be making for the class…

5 sheet wonder- card 1

Card #1—We used the Scallop Trim Border Punch (retired) on the first one.  Then added some 1/8" Silver Ribbon and a sentiment from the Bright & Beautiful (wood) stamp set stamped in Blackberry Bliss.

Card #2—The Snowflake Card Thinlit dies were used to create the layered snowflake in Island Indigo and Silver Foil.  The retired Greetings For The Season was stamped in Blackberry Bliss, then punched with the Decorative Label Punch.

5 sheet wonder - card 3

Card #3—I added a sparkly 1/4" wide strip of Silver Glimmer Paper to the background.  The Merry Everything (wood) sentiment is stamped in Island Indigo, then die-cut with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits.  A Decorative Label Punch shape was cut in half and repositioned to make the Blackberry Bliss mat under the sentiment.

5 sheet wonder- card 4

Card #4—I stamped the Letterpress Winter greeting in Blackberry Bliss, then punched it with the Oval Collection Framelits.  It's layered on an Island Indigo Labels Collection Framelit die-cut and a Silver Foil Deco Labels Collection die-cut.  A 1/8" Silver Ribbon bow provides the finishing touch.

Card #5—First I punched a Scallop Edge Border Punch, then I added some texture to the Island Indigo layer with the Decorative Dots Texture Impressions Folder and a 1/4" strip of Silver Glimmer Paper for sparkle.  The sentiment is from Merry Everything (wood), stamped in Perfect Plum, then punched with the Note Tag Punch, and topped off with a 1/4" Whisper White Cotton Ribbon bow.

5 sheet wonder- card 6
5 sheet wonder- card 6a

Card #6—The focal point of this card features a Silver Foil snowflake from the Snowflake Card Thinlit layered on an Soft Sky Label Bracket Punch background.  It's topped with a 1/8" Silver Ribbon bow.  The bottom has a 1/4" strip of Silver Foil, then a retired Greetings of the Season sentiment in Island Indigo, punched with the Extra Large Oval Punch.

5 sheet wonder- card 7

Card #7—I embossed the card base with the new Filligree Frame Textured Impressions Folder.  The focal point is created from the Snowflake Card Thinlit.  I stamped the medium Letterpress Winter snowflake in Perfect Plum, then punched it with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  The sentiment is stamped in Island Indigo and punched with the 1" Circle Punch.  In between those layers is a hand-cut Silver Glimmer Paper banner.

5 sheet wonder- card 8

Card #8—The decorative edge is punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. I used the Delicate Designs Texture Impressions Folder for the snowflake embossed border.  Then I wrapped the layer with the 1/4" Whisper White Cotton Ribbon. The Silver Foil sentiment is die-cut with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.

The Silver Foil sentiment is die-cut with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.

Card #10—The final card uses a 3/4" strip of Silver Glimmer Paper on the background and a 1/8" Silver Ribbon bow on the top.  The retired Greetings of the Season sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss.
