Hi Stamping Friends,
At last month's Too Cool Demo Team Meeting, we had a little creative challenge amongst our team members! I had just gotten my big box of new Spring Occasions Catalog items about 2 hours before the meeting, so after some show & tell of the new items, I had everyone participate in a creative challenge!
For the challenge, everyone was allowed to use whatever papers they wanted from the new Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. They each got a pack of coordinating colors of card stock, too. Then, I told them they had 45 minutes to come up with a card using any of the new products they wanted! They also had the run of tools in my stamping studio.
Much to my chagrin, they moaned at first. LOL! I know, it's not always easy to create on demand. But, they came around quickly and soon they were digging in and having fun playing with the new goodies!
We had a very small group of challengers since it was in busy December: Carmen DeBruce, Darla Eigenschink, Jodi Geers and Rita Berning. Wanna see what they created?! I knew you would!
Carmen used the fancy Circle Card Thinlits, decorated on one side with the Fresh Prints DSP. The other side is stamped with flowers from the Petite Petals (wood) set in Real Red, Crumb Cake and Coastal Cabana.
Take a look at all that detail on the circle flip panel! She layered the heart image from Peachy Keen (wood) in Real Red onto a Coastal Cabana 1-3/4" Circle punch-out. That is all layered on a 2-3/8" Scallop Circle from another Fresh Prints pattern paper. It's finished with Rhinestone Jewels and Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.
Darla combined the diagonally striped Fresh Prints paper with a Real Red background embossed with the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder (no longer available).
The sentiment is from the new Perfect Pennants (wood) set, and the rubber image was colored with Coastal Cabana & Real Red Markers before stamping. The Crumb Cake Seam Binding is a nice accent with the color combination.
Jodi also used a sentiment from the Perfect Pennants (wood) set.
I love the way she added the Rhinestone Jewels to the ampersand! Cool! She also has some fantastic layering along the edge of the floral Fresh Prints paper: Coastal Cabana Dotted Scallop Ribbon border, Crumb Cake Seam Binding and Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon tied in a knot.
Rita used the On Film Framelits to make this Polaroid style card, which is very trendy right now!
The framelit also embosses a striped texture on the Polaroid edges—sweet! The inside is filled with Fresh Prints DSP, and it's wrapped with some Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon. The Crumb Cake chevron accents are die-cut from the Circle Card Thinlits.
She used the Just Sayin' (wood) set for the Real Red sentiment, perfectly cut out with the coordinating Word Bubble Framelits. Get them both together in a bundle to save!
After a vote, Rita was declared the winner of our challenge! Woohoo!
I also participated in the challenge, but not the contest, with this card creation. I was also liking the Perfect Pennants (wood) set, but I chose a different sentiment from it. I cut out this Real Red phrase with the coordinating Banners Framelits. I cut a second banner from Crumb Cake card stock in the same size, then cut it in half and re-positioned them peeking out from under the top and bottom of the banner. Cute effect!
The background also has a scalloped texture border from the Needlepoint Borders Folders on the Crumb Cake layer. Love that detail!
I stamped the polka dots image from Perfect Pennants (wood) on the background with Coastal Cabana ink for some added pattern.
Finally, I stamped some Petite Petals (wood) flowers in Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Crumb Cake onto Whisper White and punched them out with the Petite Petals Punch from the bundle of the same name. Those mini blooms are adorable with Rhinestone Jewels in the centers!
