Sweetest Christmas Mistletoe Kisses Cards

As soon as I saw the Sweet Candy Canes stamp set, I knew I wanted to try the "old school" technique of coloring directly on the stamp for a multicolor image. It works with these images so perfectly, so you can make your candy cane stripes any color you like with the help of Stampin' Write Markers. Remember, you need to use the water-based Stampin' Write Markers, not the alcohol-based Stampin' Blends Markers, with this technique.

Background Basics—I began with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White cardstock that was embossed with the Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder and adhered onto a Thick Basic White card base.

Focal Point Foundation—I created a foundation for the focal point by die-cutting a White Glimmer Paper circle with the Stylish Shapes Dies. It's adhered with SEAL to the card front. Next, I punched a couple of Shaded Spruce sprigs with the Bough Punch and added those with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. .

Colored Candy Cane—I used the brush tip of the Shaded Spruce and Real Red Stampin' Write Markers to color the stripes directly on the red rubber of the stamp. After coloring, I huffed on the ink to re-moisten, then stamped onto Basic White cardstock. I die-cut the shape and popped it up with Dimensionals.

Sweet Sentiment—I die-cut another Stylish Shapes circle in Basic White this time and stamped a sentiment in Real Red and popped it up. I finished by stamping three leaves with Mint Macaron ink onto Basic White, die-cutting them with the Candy Cane Dies and popping them up with more Dimensionals, tucking them under the cane and the sentiment.

Finishing Touches—I tied a White Glittered Organdy Ribbon around the card front into a double-knot, trimming the ends. I finished with a few Red Rhinestones around the focal point. That white-on-white look is so wintry and elegant, with a touch of whimsy!

Two Cool—My second card has a Basic White embossed background, this time the Whimsical Woodland design embossed in a horizontal orientation. I tied the Pool Party Ribbon around the layer before adhering it to the Coastal Cabana card base.

Cool DSP Canes—The Shaded Spruce sprigs are the same as the original card and the small leaves are in Soft Sea Foam. The candy cane itself is colored on the red rubber with a Pool Party and Real Red Stampin' Write Marker.

Finishing Touches—The sentiment is the same as the first card, as well as the Red Rhinestone embellishments. Love that pop of color frame!
