The real wedding card—and what a wedding it was!

I can tell you that I've never been to a more spectacular wedding!  So unique and so many surprises!  I just have to share a few of the details with you.

But first, I wanted to show of the REAL wedding card I ended up giving Scott and Devin.

Scott & Devin's wedding card

I needed a bit more color than my previous wedding cards had.  Plus, I had to try out my brand spankin' new Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder (coming in the new catalog).

I tried photographing this card, but you still are unable to see all the lovely Frost White Shimmer Paint that I sponged over the embossed texture, or the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz that I sprayed on the floral image to give it a pearlized sheen.

Card Details: The base of this gate-fold card is Baja Breeze card stock.  The floral image is from the Kind & Caring Thoughts hostess set, colored with my brand-new Baja Breeze marker, the retiring Close To Cocoa marker, and tipped with the Not Quite Navy marker.  I layered the floral image on retired Soft Sky card stock, and added paper piercing for some interest.  The sentiment is from the retiring Together Forever wedding set, punched with the Large Oval and layered on the Oval Scallop punch in Baja.  The gate-fold flap tucks under the sentiment to hold it closed.

Vintage Wedding Fun

I love creating paper crafts for special events, and my cousin's wedding, with it's vintage picnic style, had several Too Cool details that I thought you might find interesting.  But, first, here's a lovely picture of the bride and groom…introducing Scott and Devin…

Scott & Devin - walking

Scott and Devin - programs
Their wedding took place outside on the shore of beautiful Lake Maxincuckee in Culver.  As you walked onto the estate, you picked up your wedding program, in the shape of a fan.  Very appropriate, since it was extremely hot and muggy out.

The fan matched the retro look of the invitations I have shown in a previous post.  The fan blades, each holding details of the ceremony to come, were fastened with a jumbo eyelet embellished with several strands of fabric.  Very quaint!

Scott & Devin's wedding lemonade

Homemade signs hung on trees pointed guests toward glasses of fresh lemonade, the porta-potties (more on those later!), and the "watering hole."

Scott and Devin - groomsmen

As the ceremony began, with an acoustic guitar playing "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" in the background, the groomsmen, wearing white and tan seersucker suits and flip flops, deboarded the boat they arrived in.  Too Cool!

Scott and Devin - tree frames After the ceremony, everyone found their reserved dinner seat by finding their names and table numbers listed inside the picture frames hung on an enormous tree.  Love it!

Scott and Devin - culver cooler

Before dinner, we mingled and enjoyed cocktails.  The featured drink was the Culver Cooler, some kind of blueberry flavored, oh-so-yummy drink.  I loved the signs that were printed on decorative paper, adhered to a pretty wooden tray and tied with more fabric strands.

Scott & Devin's wedding favor The place setting for each guest included this cute little box (I could've made that!), tied with rafia and a large vintage button. The tag was even stamped with a personalized stamp including the couple's name and date on it.  A ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookie was nestled inside!

I went picture crazy on all of the little, yet perfect, details that the bride (or Team Devin) thought of using.

But, I swear, I did also get pictures of people. Didn't want to bore you with those.

One last photo I just have to share.  Maybe this is a give-away to how much of an Indiana hick I am, but I was not going to leave that spectacular affair without a picture of the porta-potty…

Scott & Devin's wedding potty

Seriously…look at this john!  It was a four-stalled, wooden-doored, wall-papered, double-vanitied, automatic sinked, air-conditioned powder room on wheels!  No flies, no smell—I mean this was SO much better than the restroom at the gas station I stopped at on the way to the festivities!  Way too cool!

Congratulations, Scott and Devin, and thank you for a wonderfully inspiring event!

  1. LMAO about the port-a-pottie pic! You crack me up! Anyway, it looks like it was a great event. Even though I can’t see any of the sparkle in your card, it’s beautiful!
