This Christmas Mini Coffee Cups

Mini Coffee Cups are by far one of my favorite treat favors to make & give!  Combine the popularity of coffee in general with the adorable cuteness of these mini 4 oz. coffee cups, and it's always a big hit!  Especially when you fill it with yummy coffee treats!  I love them as little gifts for neighbors, co-workers, teachers and even students!  I recently gave them to the girls on the softball team I sponsored over the summer, and they loved them!  Pair them with a Starbucks gift card for a gift—a perfect combination!

I created a gazillion of these Mini Coffee Cups for my craft fair using the traditional holiday colors & patterns in the This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper packs.  Remember that this pack has 24 sheets instead of 12, and the paper is a little lighter weight, so it's very cost-effective if you're making a big batch!

Coffee Cup Basics—The cups are about the size of a Dixie cup, and they have real coffee cup lids that fit on top!  I purchased them from WebRestaurantStore.com: cups & lids come separately.

Coffee Cup WrapI wrapped each of the cups with the This Christmas paper that I hand-cut using a template (more about that below). I added a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive to each end to secure the paper into place  TIP: After peeling off the adhesive backing paper, start by wrapping the center of the paper around the cups, getting it into position before finally adhering the ends.

Wrap Template—I created my own template by taking a cup apart. Here's how you can create your own…

  • Turn your cup upside-down. Using a craft knife, carefully cut out the bottom of the cup only, leaving the sides intact.
  • Once the bottom is gone, cut the cup down the side, away from the seam with scissors.
  • Lay the cup out flat on a cutting mat.  Using a craft knife, carefully trim away the top lip of the cup with a neat cut.
  • Transfer the template onto a piece of chipboard backing that comes with the designer series papers.  TIP: Extend the length of the template by about 1/8" on each side so that you have some overlap.
  • You may need to trim to fit around the cup to get it perfect.

Cup Décor—I stamped the "Joy" word from Holly Jolly Greetings in Garden Green onto Very Vanilla card stock, then punched with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch.  Next, I stamped the little loop design from the Ready To Pop stamp set in Cherry Cobbler above and below the word.  It's layered onto a Cherry Cobbler shape punched from the retired Bracket Label Punch.  You could easily substitute one of the scallop circles from the Layering Circles Framelits for a similar look.

I used my Bone Folder to curve the label before popping it up with Dimensionals.  Curving it will help prevent it from pulling away from the cup.  I finished the label with a couple of Rhinestone Jewels.

Coffee Candy Contents—I filled my cups with some awesome coffee-flavored candies!  These Bali's Best Coffee Candies come in coffee, latte, and espresso flavors and they truly taste like real coffee!  I purchased the big 300-piece jar at Office Depot.  You can also find them several places online: Bali's Best Coffee Candies

Coffee Cup Lid—Finally, I added a Cherry Cobbler 3/8" Silky Taffeta Ribbon bow to the top of the lid with a Glue Dot.

Two Cool—I finished off the cup decorated with the snowflake patterned This Christmas paper with a saying from the Reason For The Season stamp set inked in Cherry Cobbler.  The little snowflake image is from Hang Your Stocking is stamped in Memento Black Ink and it's topped with a Rhinestone Jewel.

Three Cool—I used the retired Tags Til Christmas stamp set for the label on this one, and it's also layered on the retired Bracket Label Punch.  Couldn't resist using that fun saying!

Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
