Tidings & Trimmings Merry & Bright Cards
I love when I can create a pretty card with minimum supplies. It's what they call "simple stamping" and today's cards show just how easy it is to create!
Background Basics—I adhered a 4" x 2" piece of Soft Succulent patterned paper from the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper pack. Remember that this 6×6" pack is one of the DSPs on sale thru August 2! Be sure to grab a pack or two when you're ordering.
Next, I mounted a 3" x 4-1/4" piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock onto the center of the card front. I adhered a strip of the Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon across the Evergreen cardstock at the top of the DSP and trimmed the ends.
Merry Focal Point—The focal point begins with stamping the Tidings & Trimmings sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink onto the top center of a 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" piece of Basic White cardstock. Then, I added several of the trimmings from the stamp set around the edges of the piece:
- I stamped the two- and three-leave images in Evening Evergreen ink.
- I filled those leaves with the coordinated two-step images in Soft Succulent ink.
- I stamped the berries branch in Cherry Cobbler ink.
- I added the outline stars in Sahara Sand ink.
The stamped layer is matted onto a 2-5/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Cherry Cobbler and it's popped up with Dimensionals over the Evening Evergreen foundation layer.
Finishing Touches—I colored the star images in with Wink of Stella glimmer. I also added just a tiny touch of Wink of Stella to all of the berries. TIP: Be careful to use a light, barely-touch application, otherwise the water-based ink on the image could smear or bleed.
Two Cool—My second version begins with a piece of the Beauty of the Earth DSP, also on sale this month. I love the pattern, which features watercolored evergreen images. It's mounted onto a Misty Moonlight card base. The foundation layer is in Night of Navy and I adhered a strip of the Just Jade gingham ribbon from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo pack across the front.
Merry Layer—I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, then stamped the same decorative images from the first card in the following colors:
- I stamped the two- and three-leave images in Night of Navy ink.
- I filled those leaves with the coordinated two-step images in Soft Succulent ink.
- I stamped the berries branch in stamped-off Misty Moonlight ink.
- I added the outline stars in Sahara Sand ink.
