Too Cool Stamping Studio – Sneak Peek

Most of you know that I'm in the process of moving into a new house, and I'm very, very excited about the part of my basement that will soon be my Too Cool Stamping Studio!

I thought it would be fun to give you a glimpse of the space, so you'll be able to see the transformation when I'm done (which will not be soon enough for me—I miss stamping!)

My new basement is one big open space in the shape of an "L."  It's actually more of a backwards "L" and My Stamping Studio will be in the short bottom of the "L" shape.  As you come down the staircase, I'll have the whole left side of the basement!

Here's a full shot of the room from one end.  You can see a sliver of the staircase on the right side of the photo for reference.  It's BIG!  Woohoo!  I should be able to keep 2-3 class tables set up on one side with no problem!  That was one of my main criteria when I was looking for a house—enough space to have people over to stamp with me!

This wall of cabinets and drawers was already built-in when we got the house—what an awesome bonus!  Love it!  I can't wait to start filling them up with my stamping goodies!  I especially love the glass door cabinet, plus all the little cubbies at the top, for showcasing stamped projects!  EEEEEeeeeee!

Here is a view of the room from the stairs.  There are lots of windows, so I'll have plenty of natural light and a cool breeze blowing in on summer evenings. There is also a little ledge around part of the room—more area to showcase projects!

If you look closely at this photo, you'll see that I was testing out some paint colors.  I wouldn't have minded the mint green for a craft area, but since the whole basement is open and our entertainment/family room will be at the other end (long part of the "L"), I didn't want that color throughout the entire space.

Here is a photo of the entertainment/family area.  The family room will be at the end, and there will be a dining area, and overflow for maybe a pool table or ping pong table.  It's plumbed for a wet bar, so that may be a project down the road.  It will be a great spot for relaxing and for entertaining family & friends!  But, I couldn't keep this part in mint green!

When you turn around 180° from the previous photo, this is what you see.  It's the corner of the "L" shape, so you can see part of the stamping area.  It's a very long space!  In fact, considering that I was living in a very small, contemporary ranch, the basement is larger than my previous house!  Too Cool!

It has taken me nearly a week to decide on colors, but I finally came up with a combination that I think will look both warm & comfy, while still being a little crafty!

I'll put my color choices in terms of Stampin' Up! colors…since, if you're like me, everything colorful is in terms of Stampin' Up! colors!  LOL!  I decided to do two shades that are very close to River Rock and Soft Suede. I've always thought those were so pretty together!

Last night, I started putting the first coat of "Glowing Dune" (aka River Rock) on the top part of the ledge walls…

It's kind of hard to tell with the mint green still right there, but I think it's gonna look fabulous!  You can see a peek of the Soft Suede color on the left side ledge (where I was playing with colors).  It's hard to tell what it will look like when it's done, but I'll be sure to keep you updated on my progress!

Oh, and speaking of decorating with Stampin' Up! colors…

Perfect plum living room

I just had to show you my Perfect Plum wall in my upstairs living room!  I painted this one wall…the rest were conveniently painted Crumb Cake before I moved in.  This wall was a bright spring green (I should have gotten a before pic), but that color simply wasn't from our current Color Collections, so it wasn't going to do AT ALL.

And, yes, I AM going to have every room in a Stampin' Up! color…what of it?!  Stampin' Up! spent a lot of time and money researching colors to provide a fabulous and up-to-date selection.  It only makes sense to take advantage of their hard work and make my color decisions easier!  (Plus, have you seen how many 100s of paint swatches there are at the paint store?  Way to many to choose from!)

I'm already planning my Baja Breeze, Early Espresso and Pear Pizzazz master bedroom and bath based on this pretty pillow…haha!

Now, I'm off to do more painting!  I'll keep you updated on my progress!

Have a wonderful, colorful day!

Angie

  1. I may have to purchase a small one-man helicopter to get down to your new house for stamp club and stamp meetings…..but it will be worth it! Your new studio is going to be beautiful!
