Two of my Too Cool Demo Team members, Peggy Tassler & Kathe Madsen, recently shared some of their card creations using the beautiful Vivid Vases single, wood-mount stamp. I love this simple line image because it's so much fun to color with the new Blendabilities Markers!  Plus, with the sentiment already attached, you just stamp it, color it, and put it on a pretty background for a quick & easy card! 

Here are a few ideas for how you can use it…

Labels Collection Shaped Card—Peggy Tassler featured the Vivid Vases image on her fun-shaped card, die-cut from the Labels Collection Framelits.  She simply folded over the Daffodil Delight card stock for a traditional card base, then cut through both layers with the framelits, leaving the folded edge outside of the die-cutting edge.  The white layer you see behind the shape is the envelope, not a card base.

Paper-Pierced Patterns—Peggy used the retired Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper to paper-piece the subtle striping on the vases.  It's easy to do…just stamp the image onto the patterned paper, then hand-cut each individual vase shape (yes she did!) and adhere it on the stamped image. 

She added some Rhinestone Jewels for a little sparkle.

Fantastic Folds—The Vivid Vases image is the perfect size for this off-set gate fold card, similar to one Peggy created for our Team Shoebox Swap last month.  The 4-1/4" x 11" Whisper White card stock was scored at the 3-5/8" and 9-1/8" marks to create the card base.  The panels, made with the retired Eastern Elegance DSP, are each 1-5/8" x 4".

Beautiful Blends—Peggy did a beautiful job shading the vases with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities set.  If you've never used alcohol markers before, it takes a little practice to get the feel of the blending technique.  Here are a few quick tips to get you started:

• Color from light to dark in small circles.
• Use the medium nib when adding darker colors.
• Use the light brush tip over the entire area to finish smoothing the blend.
• Touch up blending and add highlights with the Color Lifter Marker.

New Momento Tuxedo Black Ink—When the Blendabilities become available for customers to purchase in the next few weeks, you'll want to make sure to get the Momento Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp your line-image stamps.  StazOn Black is alcohol-based and will not be permanent with these alcohol-based markers.  They just don't play well together.  Momento Black is the perfect choice for clear, black, non-smearing images.

Color Lifting Fun—Peggy said she was having fun trying out the Color Lifter Marker on this Vivid Vases card.  She colored the vases with the two darker Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities Markers, then lifted the color on the upper right curves of the vases.  With one stroke of the marker, you'll find the color "evaporating" like magic in just a few seconds as it dries.  The more strokes you make, the more the color disappears!  Too Cool!

Three Cool Cards—Kathe Madsen was also having fun creating with Vivid Vases & Blendabilities Markers!  She shared three versions of the same basic card design, starting with this one featuring Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie blended colors.  Even though they aren't officially the same color, the blended Daffodil color still coordinates well with the Hello Honey card stock and Hello Honey Satin Stitched Ribbon.

Selective Stamping—Notice that Kathe's Vivid Vases sentiment is separated from the image.  She only used the Momento Ink on the vases for the focal point.  She used the VersaMark ink on only the words when she stamped of the bottom, then she embossed them in Gold Embossing Powder.

Blending Points of Light—The look of your blending & shading will depend on where you want the "light" to shine on your image.  On this Rich Razzleberry card, Kathe outlined the vases with darker colors, so they look like the light is shining at them straight on.  If you look back at Peggy's vases, you'll see that her light source is coming either from the top, or from the top right.  They ALL look fantastic! 

TIP: To keep your shading looking realistic, it doesn't matter which direction your "light source" comes from when shading, as long as you keep that point consistent throughout your entire colored image.
