Screen - two cool

I've been wanting to try out a fun screen card for awhile now and I thought it would work perfectly with the Traveler set!  These fancy-fold cards open to become a free-standing card that the recipient can proudly display.  Brilliant!

Screen - miss you traveler

CASEd from Katherine LePiane at Stampin' With Katherine.

The awesome part of this card is that it is deceptively simple to create!  I found a handy pictorial at Stampin' With Katherine, but here are the basic steps to get you started…

Screen Card How-To

  • Start with a 11" x 5-1/2" piece of card stock.
  • Score along the 11" side at 2-3/4", 5-1/2", and 8-1/4".  Don't fold it yet.
  • Use a decorative border punch along the top.
  • Accordion fold it into 4 panels.
  • Gather two panels and use the Decorative Label Punch to punch a notch at the bottom center of the panels to create the screen legs.  Repeat with the other 2 panels.
  • Decorate!

My screen card bases are created with Island Indigo card stock and punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch along the top.

Random Stamped Panels—The panels are each decorated with 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" Whisper White card stock randomly stamped with several images from the Traveler set.  I lined all 4 panels up side-by-side on my work space, but you could also stamp the card stock before cutting, then cut them to size.

First, I stamped the suitcase in Soft Suede, then the globe in Old Olive, then the camera in Island Indigo, and finally the passport in Sahara Sand to fill in the spaces.

Sponging—Before adhering the panels to the screen, I sponged some Soft Suede Ink onto the edges.  Your Stamp-of-the-Month Class Kit includes a sponge to use for this technique.

Word Bubbles Sentiments—I thought the Word Bubbles Framelits would be fun to use with the screen.  It's kind of like there is someone behind the screen talking to you!  I selected a greeting from Really Good Greetings set that fit perfectly in the rectangular bubble shape.  A single Rhinestone Jewel draws your eye to the sentiment so it becomes the focal point.

Folded To Fit—Here's a photo of the screen card all folded up and ready to stuff neatly into a Medium Envelope.

Inside—I wanted the inside of my class cards to be simple, but you definitely have LOTS of room to add more stamped panels, writing, or even photos!

Screen - thinking of you

I created a second version in a different color combination: Island Indigo, Wild Wasabi, Smoky Slate and Pool Party.  The edges are sponged with Smoky Slate.

This time, I used a Sassy Salutations greeting with the oval Word Bubbles Framelit.  I love the versatility of using these framelits with sentiments from ANY stamp set!
