Trusty Tools Dad You’re Awesome Card
The Trusty Tools Bundle is perfect for Father’s Day and birthday cards for dad! I created this clever little toolbox card that you could use for either occasion.
Remember the Trusty Toolbox DSP is only available thru February 29, so don’t wait to order if you want to earn that to make additional projects!
Background Basics
This card begins by embossing the top of a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock with one of the Geometric Patterns embossing folders. I adhered a 5-1/4″ x 1-1/2″ piece of Trusty Toolbox DSP across the bottom. I mounted those background layers onto a Lost Lagoon card base.
Focal Point & Sentiment
I created a focal point foundation by die-cutting a Basic White Everyday Details circle and adhering to the card front. Next, I created a little toolbox by die-cutting a Trust Tools rectangle label and handle in Gray Granite cardstock.
I stamped the word “dad” in Gray Granite on the left side of the label, then added the rest of the sentiment in Memento Black ink over the sentiment to the right side of the label. I love that overlapped look! I popped up the label onto the circle with Dimensionals and added the handle with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Focal Point Tools
It’s fun to stamp and color the tools in the stamp set, but for the best selection and quick application, you can fussy-cut some tools directly from the Trusty Toolbox DSP! You can use the Trusty Tools dies with a few of the images, but most need to be hand-cut. I cut out a few tools and popped them up with Dimensionals so they looked like they were in the toolbox. So quick & cute!
For the class kit, you will receive three tools to hand-cut and they will not necessarily be the ones in my card. There are not a lot of duplicates in the DSP, so making the exact card wasn’t practical. So, I’ll make sure that you receive tools in each of the three colors, with enough of the tool intact that it will look good sticking out of the toolbox.
Finishing Touches
I wanted to finish up with a “manly” type of embellishment, so I added Rustic Metallic Dots on all four corners of the toolbox to look like rivets. Perfect!
You will have either four large dots or four small dots in your class kit.
