Jackie - Peace on Earth red & green

Jackie's Carols of Christmas Card

The extra-large sentiments in the Carols of Christmas set make an awesome focal point.  Simply add some pretty panels of Designer Series Papers to the background, add some accents and your card looks amazing!  Jackie Baatz's card is a great example of that!

Background Basics—Jackie's card begins with a 1-1/2" x 5" strip of Merry Little Christmas DSP adhered to a 4" x 5-1/4" Garden Green card stock layer.  The other side has three 2-1/8/" x 1-5/8" pieces from the Be Merry DSP (that's part of the current Buy 3, Get 1 FREE promotion!).  The decorative paper background is mounted onto a Cherry Cobbler card base.

Peace on Earth—Jackie stamped the Carols of Christmas greeting in Cherry Cobbler onto Whisper White card stock, then die-cut it with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The cool faux stitching detail that the Stitched Shapes Framelits adds always makes the card look a little more "finished" to me!  I LOVE it so much!

Finishing Touches—Jackie stamped the holly and berries with images from the Merry Café stamp set in Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler inks.  She layered the circle onto a Silver Glimmer Paper scallop circle die-cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  She used some Multipurpose Glue to adhere the layers together then popped them up with Dimensionals onto the card front.  I love that little bit of sparkle peeking out from under the focal point!

Darla - Peace on Earth olive & black

Darla's Carols of Christmas Card

Darla Eigenschink created a similar swap card with the Carols of Christmas stamp set, using the same formula of decorating the background with Designer Series Papers and adding a few fun accents.

Background Panels—Darla's background features Merry Little Christmas DSP patterns: 4" x 3-1/4" trees on the top and 4" x 2" stripes on the bottom.  After adhering the DSP to a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White, she tied some Old Olive 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon around the layer, then popped it up over a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" layer of Old Olive card stock.  Those layers were then mounted onto a Basic Black card base.

Darla - Peace on Earth olive & black 2

Peace Piece—Darla stamped the Carols of Christmas sentiment in Memento Black Ink onto Whisper White.  Like Jackie's card, she die-cut the phrase with the same Stitched Shapes Framelits circle and mounted it on the same Silver Glimmer Layering Circles Framelits scalloped circle!  Great minds create alike!

AccentI love that Darla added a little strand of the Mini Sequins Trim under the ribbon using a Glue Dot.  It picks up the sparkle from the circle and really completes the card!
