Two Cool Graduation Card Ideas From Janet

Hi Stamping Friends!

It's graduation time and today I have a couple of ideas for sharing your congratulations with the graduate courtesy of Janet Shinn!  Will you be needing to send any graduation cards out this year?

Grad 2017 - janet

Created by Janet Shinn.

1) Janet's 2017 Gold Glimmer Card

I love the bold, sparkly design of this graduation card created by Janet Shinn.  The design makes it super-easy to swap out the colors to match the school colors.

Background Basics—Janet began this card stamping the 5-1/4" x 4" Whisper White background with the splatter image from the retiring Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in Elegant Eggplant ink.   Next, she embossed the layer with the Lucky Stars Texture Impressions Folder and mounted it onto an Elegant Eggplant card base.

Focal Point—She created a foundation for the numbers with a 5" x 1-1/2" strip of Elegant Eggplant card stock, punched on the ends with the Banner Triple Punch.  The Gold Glimmer Paper numbers are die-cut using the Large Numbers Framelits. They are popped up with Dimensionals.  Janet added a few Rhinestone Jewels around the year, too, for some additional sparkle.

2) Janet's Places You'll Go Card

Celebrate the upcoming adventures of the new graduate with Janet's card featuring the retiring Places You'll Go stamp set!

Background Basics—Janet embossed the 4" x 5-1/4" Old Olive background with the retiring Festive Texture Impression Folders.  It's layered onto a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" layer of Basic Black card stock, then mounted onto a Whisper White card base.

Globe Focal Point—Janet stamped the Places You'll Go globe base in Memento Black Ink onto a 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Whisper White.  The circle leaf border stamp was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White in Old Olive, then the sentiment was stamped inside with Memento Black.  She hand-trimmed the piece and popped it up with Dimensionals.  It's layered onto a 2-7/8" x 3-3/8" layer of Old Olive, then again onto a piece of 3" x 3-1/2" Basic Gray card stock.

Sweet Sentiment—The second sentiment was stamped in Memento Black onto a 1-1/2" x 5/8" piece of Whisper White.  It's layered onto 1-5/8" x 3/4" Old Olive mat, then again onto a 1-3/4" x 7/8" Basic Gray mat.

  1. The 2017 grad card was the FASTEST card I’ve ever made! I made it in school colors: blue, white with silver glimmer numbers, and it turned out amazing. Thanks so much for sharing.
