Two Cool Papillon Potpourri Butterfly Cards

It's funny how great minds think alike.  Two of my My Too Cool Demo Team members created cards for our birthday card swap using the pretty Papillon Potpourri (wood) stamp set.  Love those butterflies! 

They even used the same sentiment from the Itty Bitty Banners (wood) stamp set!  So, how could I not showcase them together to give you two cool ways to use these two cool sets?! 

First up, Kathe Madsen created this charming card with a pretty background for the butterflies to alight.

Background Basics—Kathe started by stamping a silhouette branch image from the World of Dreams (wood) set in Memento Black ink positioned in the center of the 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Next, she lightly sponged some color in the center with Strawberry Slush.

Embossed Circle—You can't see it very well here, but she added an embossed 1-1/2" Whisper White circle cut with the Circle Collection Framelits with the texture from the Woodgrain Texture Impressions Folder.  The circle covers up where the branches come together and gives the butterflies a place to perch.

Beautiful Butterflies—The butterflies from Papillon Potpourri (wood) were both stamped in Strawberry Slush ink and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  Both are popped up with Dimensionals and accented with Rhinestone Jewels.

Sweet Sentiment—Kathe finished her card with the birthday greeting from the Itty Bitty Banners (wood) set, stamped in black, die-cut with the matching Bitty Banners Framelits, and adhered with Dimensionals. 

I love how these elements all come together to create a simple and sweet card!  Well done, Kathe!

Darla Eigenschink used the same Papillon Potpourri (wood) butterfly images to make a lovely & colorful butterfly border on her birthday card.

Blended Butterfly Border—Her card starts with a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" Whisper White piece of card stock stamped with the two sizes of butterflies in Memento Black ink.  She used the Wisteria Wonder, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities Markers to color in the images.

Background Basics—Once the images were stamped and colored, she adhered that layer onto a 4" x 5-1/4" Daffodil Delight mat and popped up the entire layer with Dimensionals onto the Wisteria Wonder card base. 

Sweet Sentiment—Like Kathe's card, Darla selected the Itty Bitty Banners (wood) birthday greeting, inked in black and die-cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  She also matted the image onto Rich Razzleberry card stock for a little coordinating color, then attached to the card front with Dimensionals.

Fluttering Wings—Darla added a second layer to the Rich Razzleberry butterfly.  She stamped and colored it the same as the others, punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch, adhered with Multipurpose Glue, and bent the wings upward.  Love that little detail to add movement to the card, Darla!
