Two Too Cool Team Birthday Swap Cards

The first swap card is a Peggy Tassler original and features fun masking and resist techniques. 

Background Basics—The project starts with a Hello Honey card base topped with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper in a Lost Lagoon large dot pattern.  A 4" x 3/4" strip of Hello Honey is adhered along the bottom, then it's wrapped with a Silky Taffeta Lost Lagoon Ribbon that's tied into a faux bow. 

Irresistible Focal Point—The focal point on Peggy's card is stamped on a 3" x 3" piece of polka dot Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper.  I've had SO MANY people select this awesome paper pack for their Sale-a-Bration choice this week!  Those ink-resisting patterns really are irresistible!  I really hope we get something similar in the Annual Catalog! 

Resisted Masked Balloons—The "happy" Celebrate Today balloon is stamped on the resist paper in Lost Lagoon ink.  I love how it becomes an instant polka dot balloon on this paper!  Next, we positioned a mask over the balloon and stamped the solid balloon next to the first balloon, this time in Hello Honey. 

TIP #1: Create the mask by stamping the balloon on a sticky note (over the sticky part), then cut it out right on the balloon's edge. Now you have a temporary mask to position over the stamped image on your project to protect it from additional stamping.

TIP #2—You may find that after stamping over the mask you have a small, non-inked area between the balloons because of the mask layer.  Simply use a Hello Honey marker, or a Blender Pen with Hello Honey ink pad, to fill in the blank areas.

Sweet Sentiment—The second part of the Celebrate Today greeting is stamped in Hello Honey on a Bitty Banners Framelits die-cut and popped up with Dimensionals.

The focal point is matted on a 3-1/8" square of Hello Honey and popped up with more Dimensionals.  So fun!

The second swap card is courtesy of Darla Eigenschink.  She designed a quick & easy card that I think would really appeal to guys! 

Background Basics—The Bermuda Bay card base is stamped with the lines and splatter images from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in matching Bermuda Bay ink.  I love that simple, subtle pattern.  A strip of 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper is adhered to a 1-3/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Night of Navy card stock for an eye-catching background element. 

Shortened Sentiment—The Balloon Bash greeting creates a terrific focal point.  The stamp is colored with with Night of Navy and Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Markers, then stamped onto Whisper White card stock.  It's die-cut with the Chalk Talk Framelits, then another Calypso Coral die-cut of the same shape is cut in half and re-positioned on either side of the greeting before it's popped with Dimensionals. 

That's it!  So fast and cute!
