Hi Stamping Friends!

Several of my Too Cool Demo Team members joined me in my studio on Monday night for a shoebox swap featuring sympathy cards.  We had a fantastic time stamping each other's card projects and we all went home with wonderful new card ideas!  My team rocks!

Inspired by Beth McAlexander at Creations by Beth.

I thought it was funny that two of our team members, Carmen DeBruce and Darla Eigenschink, both created cards using the Work of Art stamp set as a pretty background, along with Moonlight Designer Series Paper and In Color Stitched Satin Ribbon accents!  Proves once again that great minds think alike!

Background Basics—Carmen's card featured a Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss color combination. We adhered the 1-1/4" x 3-3/4" piece of patterned paper from the Moonlight DSP Stack on the 5" x 3-3/4" Whisper White layer first, so we knew where to stamp the background.

Swoosh Trio—We stamped the Work of Art swooshes in Sahara Sand and Hello Honey.  Since her Hello Honey ink pad was pretty juicy, she had us stamp off once, then stamp the the middle swoosh, then stamp the lighter top swoosh without re-inking.

Silhouettes & Sentiments—The focal point is a silhouette from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set, paired up with words from Thoughts & Prayers. The stamped layer was mounted on a 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Blackberry Bliss layer and adhered to the card front.

Finger Bow Tying TIP
Bow tie 1  Bow tie 2

My teammates shared a fun way to tie faux bows on your card that saves ribbon.
  • Tie the end of the ribbon around your finger in a double-knot, so you end up with a loop.

Bow tie 3  Bow tie 4

  • Snip the loop at a diagonal to release the ends of the faux bow.  Instant bow!
  • Adhere the ends of the ribbon around your card layer.

Background Basics—Darla's card featured a color combination of Blackberry Bliss and Smoky Slate with a very similar card design. She also had a 1-1/4" x 3-3/4" piece of the Moonlight DSP to use as a background element.

Swoosh Trio—Darla's Blackberry Bliss ink pad was all very juicy, so she recommended stamping off the Work of Art swoosh twice onto scrap before stamping three times without re-inking onto the card background.

Silhouette & Sentiments—Darla also used the Thoughts & Prayers stamp, but she used the pretty tree silhouette for her card.  The sympathy sentiment is from Petite Pairs, stamped onto Whisper White and die-cut with an accent from the Circle Card Thinlit dies.  We used a Blackberry Bliss die-cut shape cut in half and repositioned to frame the sentiment.

The card is finished with a Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin bow, tied with that fun, finger bow technqiue, then layered onto a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" Smoky Slate layer.

Great job, Carmen & Darla!  I enjoyed creating both of your projects!
