Two Sweet Piece of Cake Cards
The Piece of Cake Bundle features lots of adorable little cakes and sentiments for all occasions, plus a handy little punch to easily cut out the cake and cake stand shapes. The first card I'm sharing is a swap card that I received from Jodi Geers and the second is a swap card that I created for the same swap! One is soft & sweet and the other is bright & cheery! It's just a glimpse of how versatile this combination of products can be!
Background Basics—Jodi started by stamping the Piece of Cake phrase at the bottom of a 4" x 5-1/4" Petal Pink piece of cardstock in Petal Pink ink. She then texture embossed the layer with the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder.
Two-Part Ribbon—She also added some new 3/8" Calypso Coral Satin Ribbon around the layer with a little knot. TIP: Her knot is really two pieces! She wrapped a piece of satin ribbon across the layer, securing the ends on the back with SNAIL adhesive. The knot is a smaller piece of ribbon that's tied on separately in a loose fashion that allows it to lay perfectly and slide easily on the ribbon for perfect positioning. She mounted the background layer onto a Whisper White card base.
Cute Cake—Jodi stamped the cake image and the candles image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock. She colored them in with Stampin' Blends: Petal Pink for the cake and flames, Calypso Coral for the flowers and Soft Sea Foam for the candles. She stamped the cake stand in Gray Granite ink then colored that in with Soft Sea Foam Blends, too.
Next, she used the Cake Builder Punch to punch out the cake and cake stand, then hand-cut the candles. All of the pieces were popped up with Dimenionals onto a 2-3/8" wide Layering Ovals die-cut, which was also popped up onto the card front with Dimensionals. She finished the card with a few Basic Pearl Jewels. So sweet & pretty!
Two Cool—My card began by embossing a 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of Whisper White with the Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder. It's adhered to the top of a 3-3/4" x 5 piece of Whisper White cardstock. I adhered a 3-1/2" x 2-1/4" piece of Daffodil Delight Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper to the bottom. Next, I tied some Granny Apple Green Texture Weave Ribbon around the layers and mounted them onto the Daffodil Delight card base. I did my double-knot with one piece of ribbon, so you can compare it to Jodi's to see which way you like better for you!
Cute Cake—I began by stamping the Piece of Cake candles image about a 1/2" from the top of a Whisper White 13/16" wide Stitched Rectangles die-cut. They are colored in with light Rich Razzleberry and light Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Markers.
Next, I stamped Piece of Cake cake and a cake stand images in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Whisper White scraps and colored them in with Stampin' Blends Markers. I used light Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Granny Apple Green, Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight colors to decorate the cake and Smoky Slate and Bronze to color in the stand. I punched them out with the Cake Builder Punch and popped them up under the candles with Dimensionals. The whole rectangle was also popped up over the ribbon with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—I added a couple of Rhinestone Jewels that I colored with the dark Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends Markers at the top of the rectangle. I finished decorating the cake by adding some Wink of Stella shimmer to the stripes, polka dots and candle flames. Just the right touch!
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Piece of Cake sentiment in Basic Gray ink onto a 2" x 1/2" strip of Whisper White and fishtailed the ends. I adhered a 2-1/4" x 1/8" strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock to the back of the sentiment before popping it up with Dimensionals. Finally, I traced the letters of the greeting with the Wink of Stella brush for extra sparkly emphasis.
