Venetian Romance Vellum Butterflies Trio

Hi Stamping Friends!

We had a fabulous class last night creating cards that showcased Designer Series Papers!

Venetian vellum butterflies - two cool

Here's another project from the event featuring the awesome patterns from the Venetian Romance Designer Series Papers!  I created a lighter patterns version and darker patterns version using the same double-sided sheets!

Venetian vellum butterflies

The first card starts with a Crisp Cantaloupe base and 5-1/4" x 4" Very Vanilla layer.

Butterfly Panels—I started with three 1-3/4" x 3-1/2" strips of DSP, just wide enough to punch out a complete Elegant Eggplant Butterfly.  TIP: To ensure they are all the same length, stack the papers on top of each other and punch the butterfly at the very bottom through all three layers at once.

Next, I used my Stampin' Trimmer to trim off a little on each side of the strips (near the tips of the wings)…just enough so the bottom of the punched area was no longer attached.  You'll end up with a strip that has the curve of the butterfly along the bottom.

Taking just a slice off each side allows a little bit of space between the panels when adhering it to the card front.

Adhere the butterfly punches underneath the strips. Then punch out some vellum butterflies to attach to the top with Glue Dots.  Lift up the wings for dimension and add a Pearl Jewel to accent.

Venetian vellum butterflies - dark

I really like the darker version mounted on the Island Indigo card base.

The sentiments are from the Express Yourself Hostess Set, stamped in either Island Indigo or Tangerine Tango, and punched with the Modern Label Punch.  So cute!

Which color combination do you like the best?

  2. Oh my goodness, this is just so beautiful! I wasn’t fond of the dark blue splotchy paper in this stack, but I can see here how pretty it is when you use just a bit.
Thank you for sharing! So Pretty!!
