Violet Dreams Appreciate You Swing Front Card

I tried fun-fold for the first time and its a winner! It’s a cousin to the simple “flip back” Z-fold style card that I’ve done many times. With a couple quick cuts, it elevates the card to more of a “swing” front fun-fold that is super fun!

Background Basics

I started with a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Secret Sea cardstock that I scored at 1-1/4″, then I flipped the card over and scored it at the 4-1/4″ mark. I folded along the score lines to create a z-fold card base.

I adhered a 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ floral Violet Dreams Designer Series Paper piece to the large front panel with SEAL Adhesive. I also adhered a 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ striped Violet Dreams DSP to the outer edge of the inside of the card with SEAL.

Next, I used my Detailed Scissors to hand-cut a couple modifications to that front 1-1/4″ panel that flips back. I cut a 1-1/4″ corner from the top and bottom of that panel. How far up or down you cut doesn’t matter; just cut neatly along the score line. You are left with an approximately 3″ long front flap for the focal point panel to attach to later.

Focal Point Swing Front

I stamped the Framed Violets dots image in Fresh Freesia ink randomly over a 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. I adhered that to a 3″ x 4″ Secret Sea cardstock mat, then attached that to the cut front flap with more SEAL Adhesive.

Focal Point Floral

I stamped the Framed Violets flower image in Secret Sea or black ink onto Basic White cardstock then colored it with Stampin’ Blends Markers. I used Fresh Freesia & Highland Heather Blends on the blossoms and Peaceful Pine on the stems & leaves. I die-cut the image with the coordinating Framed Violets Dies then popped it up on the front panel with Dimensionals. TIP: Use Mini Dimensionals or Dimensionals edging for the smaller areas.

Sweet Sentiment

I stamped the Framed Violets sentiment in Secret Sea ink onto a Basic White Stylish Shapes banner die-cut. I added a 3″ x 3/8″ strip of Peaceful Pine cardstock behind the label before popping it up with more Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches

I used my Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends Marker to color Basic Rhinestones to add around the focal point.

Inside Décor

The inside would look amazing with more coordinating Violet Dreams DSP, but I needed to keep it simple for my class, so I created my own decorative paper. I stamped the large Violet Frames flower image in Peaceful Pink ink all over a 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece and a 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Peaceful Pine cardstock to add to the inside panels.

Next, I stamped the flower onto the 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Basic White message area and colored it similar to the front flower. The perfect touch of pretty!
