Hi Stamping Friends!

As we near the end of the holiday season, and the end of the life of the Holiday Catalog, it's always a little bittersweet.  I can't wait to play with new Occasions Catalog products and share those ideas with you, but at the same time, there are so many holiday items that didn't get all of the attention they deserve.  Some of my stamps and accessories have not even been opened!  <gasp!>

Our Too Cool Team did a swap on Monday that addressed this very issue!  The theme was to pull out those items that you've purchased and never used and make something with them!  My never-been-used item was my Winter Wishes stamp set!

Today, I'm sharing my "never-been-used" Winter Wishes swap and challenging you to do the same thing!  Find something in your stamp room that is brand-new and never-used, or something that has a nice layer of dust on it!  And, create something with it for a chance to win a Winter Wishes stamp set!

Share Your "Never Been Used" Project For A Chance To Win!—Make something, anything, with any stamping supply that you've purchased with good intentions, but have never used!  Then, share a photo of it on my Too Cool Stamping Facebook Page for a chance to win a Winter Wishes stamp set!  Share by Monday, December 21, 2015.  I'll pick a random winner on December 22. USA residents only.

Winter wishes swap - two cool

Warm Winter Wishes Glimmering Sled Cards

Why, oh why haven't I been using this stamp set all season long?  I love it's old-fashioned Christmas feel!  I really enjoyed making these cards for my Too Cool Team "never-been-used" swap!

Ink It Up!—Notice how the card on the right is a little darker than the card on the left?  Both use the same colors, but the second was made after I re-inked my Early Espresso and Mossy Meadow ink pads.  What a difference! Now the colors really pop!

Re-Inker TIP: I always purchase a Refill Ink to match any color of ink pad I purchase, so I'm never caught without ink.  It's especially important with the Firm-Foam ink pads, because they don't give you much warning that the ink is going out.  Since the lid closure hangs the pad upside-down, the ink settles to the surface and once it's out, it's out quickly!

Background Basics—I started by embossing a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the Woodland Texture Impressions Folder (which is now NOT retiring by overwhelming demand!).  It is matted on a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Early Espresso.  Next, I wrapped some of the beautiful 5/8" Lost Lagoon Striped Cotton Ribbon around the layers and adhered it to the Lost Lagoon card base.

Sled Focal Point—I stamped the Winter Wishes sled image in Early Espresso onto a 2" x 3-3/4" piece of Very Vanilla.  I stamped the pine boughs at the bottom in Mossy Meadow ink.  I rounded the top corners with the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch, before matting it onto a 2-1/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Early Espresso, also with its top corners rounded.

I colored the sled with a Blender Pen dipped in Lost Lagoon and Crumb Cake inks.  The focal point is adhered to the card base with Dimensionals.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Winter Wishes greeting onto a 2-3/4" x 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla in Early Espresso ink, then fish-tailed the ends with my super-sharp Paper Snips and popped it up with Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches—I adhered a wooden Snowflake Element to the ribbon using a couple of Glue Dots.

Wink of Shimmer—Can you see the shimmery details on the sled slats?  I used a brand new product from the upcoming Occasions Catalog called Wink of Stella!  It's kind of like an Aqua Painter that has the retired Shimmer Paint in it!  There's a brush tip end that makes it super-easy to paint on the glistening sparkles!  I used the Clear Wink of Stella, but there will also be a Gold version that is stunning!  This is a must-have from the new catalog!

Two Cool—My second version is nearly identical…just moved the snowflake element to the top.

  1. Such a beautiful card. Your color choice makes this card so amazing. Isn’t that Wink of Stella so fun to use? A friend gifted me some last year.
