Waterside Retreat Dockside Elements Card

I’m just loving the Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper because the full-color watercolor imagery is so fun to use for both background scenes & dockside accents on cards! Get out your Detailed Scissors and start fussy-cutting for some fantastic lake-themed elements.

Background Basics

I began this two-part fun fold card with a 5-1/2″ x 7″ piece of Cajun Craze, scored at the 2-3/4″ mark. I also cut a 4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Cajun Craze, scored at the 1/2″ mark to create a tab.

I decorated the front of the card with a 2-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Waterside Retreat DSP with the life jackets pattern.

On the inside of the card, I adhered a 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the wood dock pattern to a the right edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Before mounting it onto the inside of the card, I adhered the tab of the smaller Cajun Craze card base underneath the right side of the layer. This creates a small card front that overlaps the left card front panel.

I also embossed a 3-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Cajun Craze cardstock with the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder and attached it to the card front flap with SEAL Adhesive.

Focal Point

I die-cut a Basic White Spotlight on Nature circle and stamped a Relaxing Waterside sentiment on the top of it with Misty Moonlight ink. It’s and added that with SEAL onto the card front for a focal point foundation.

I cut out two of the wooden planks from the DSP, one 2″ high and another 1-3/4″ high. I mounted those onto Basic White cardstock, trimming away any excess on the edges. This makes the element a little more sturdy, so I was able to easily wrap some Linen Thread around the wood mooring and tie it in a knot. I popped them up with Dimensionals over the circle.

Awesome Accents

I stamped the Relaxing Waterside weeds in Old Olive ink onto Basic White and die-cut it with the coordinating dies. It’s adhered with SEAL Adhesive. Then, I used my Detailed Scissors to fussy-cut a life preserver ring and two buoys and I added those over the wooden posts. I finished by attaching one Loose Anchor Trinket with a couple of Glue Dots. Super cute!
