Watercolor Wings You Are So Kind Cards
I'm so sad that the Retired List includes many of our awesome butterfly stamps and dies. We'll get the chance to play with the beautiful Watercolor Wings stamp set and Butterfly Thinlits dies once more during our Last Thursdays class!
I'm excited to show my attendees how to use the new Stamparatus stamp positioning tool to make quick work of the three-step butterfly on this card! The Stamparatus will be available in the new Annual Catalog coming out on June 1, 2018!
Retiring Products Featured: Watercolor Wings stamp set; Butterfly Thinlits; Bold Butterfly Framelits; Natural Trim Silver Ribbon; Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Chocolate Chip, Wisteria Wonder & Elegant Eggplant inks, Soft Sky & Wisteria Wonder card stock.
Background Basics—This card begins with a 5" x 1-3/4" strip of Vellum cardstock that has been punched with the Banner Triple Punch and adhered to a Soft Sky card base. Next, I laid down a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the vellum and attached a 5-1/4" piece of Silver Natural Trim Ribbon.
Stamped Backround—I stamped the dotted Watercolor Wings image in Chocolate Chip ink across a 3-1/2" x 3-3/4" layer of Soft Sky cardstock. It's adhered to the card front using a combination of Tear & Tape and SNAIL adhesives.
Beautiful Butterfly Die-Cut—I used the Butterfly Thinlits along with the Precision Base Plate to create the gorgeously detailed Silver Foil butterfly. It's adhered to the card front with Glue Dots down the center of the butterfly.
Stamped Butterfly—I stamped the small Watercolor Wings butterfly onto Whisper White cardstock in three steps:
- Stamp the solid image in Soft Sky ink.
- Stamp the layered images details in Soft Sky ink.
- Stamp the highlights image in Island Indigo ink.
TIP: I used the Stamparatus to aid in the positioning of the three steps. This is an especially helpful tool if you want to create multiples of the card!
I die-cut the stamped butterfly with the Bold Butterfly Framelits, then attached it with a Glue Dot.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Watercolor Wings sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink onto Whisper White, then die-cut it with the Bunch of Banners Framelits, then popped it up with Dimensionals.
Two Cool—My second version of the card has a Wisteria Wonder card base. I used the same vellum and ribbon as the previous card. I used Elegant Eggplant ink for the background dots.
Best Butterfly—This time, I stamped with Wisteria Wonder ink for the first two butterfly steps, then added the outer-wing highlights in Elegant Eggplant ink. I finished this butterfly with a Silver Twine bow attached with a pinched Glue Dot in the center. I moved the sentiment, stamped in Elegant Eggplant ink, to the bottom right of the card.
