Winter Wood Joy Fold Cards
I was so excited to learn that the gorgeous Winter Woods stamp set from the Holiday Catalog would be carrying over! The beautiful tree images coordinate so well with other sets like Lovely As A Tree and Rooted In Nature. Plus, tree images are perfect for so many types of cards all through the year! Today, I'm sharing a thank you card and a thinking of you card in a classic Joy Fold style. I've featured two cool techniques on them, too: heat embossing and frosted pearl (or mother of pearl). Check it out!

Joy Fold Card Basics—I brought back the already sold out Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper for this elegant color combination of Gray Granite and Copper. The card base begins with an 8-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Soft Suede cardstock, scored at the 2-3/4" mark along the long side. I added a 2-1/2" x 4" piece of the Joyous Noel DSP to the card's half-card front panel. Next, I texture embossed a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Gray Granite cardstock with the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder and adhered it with Tear & Tape on the inside of the card.
We'll be creating THIS card at our "Last Thursdays" class tomorrow night!
Inside The Card—The second part of this fancy-fold card is a Soft Suede piece cut to 8" x 3-1/4" and scored at 4". It's mounted on the inside of the original card base with the opening going in the opposite direction (left-to-right) with Tear & Tape Adhesive. I added a 3-3/4" x 3" piece of Whisper White cardstock on the inside for the message and stamped a little Winter Woods pine cone in Soft Suede ink in the corner.
Front Décor—I stamped the Winter Woods trees image in clear VersaMark ink onto a 3-3/4" x 3" of Whisper White cardstock, then heat embossed the image with Copper Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool. I LOVE how those trees look in copper! So elegant!
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Itty Bitty Greeting greeting in Soft Suede ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, then punched it out with the Classic Label Punch and popped it up with Dimensionals.
Two Cool—My second version has a softer, more wintery color combination. I started with some of the pearlescent Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper on the front panel of the Thick Whisper White card base. The inside has Mint Macaron cardstock, embossed with the Subtle texture.
Frosted Pearl—I stamped the Winter Woods trees in Mint Macaron ink onto a 3-3/4" x 3" piece of plain Whisper White cardstock, but do you see that awesome pearlized shimmer on it? After stamping the image, I dabbed on a little of the Frost White Shimmer Paint using a balled-up piece of plastic wrap, kind of like the faux-marble technique that people used to do on their walls in the 1990s! The pretty shimmer pattern coordinates beautifully with the pearlescent sheen on the Frosted Floral DSP! That Frost White Shimmer Paint is carrying over into the new year and this Frosted Pearl technique looks amazing with flowers! Woohoo!
Sweet Sentiment—I finished by stamping a different Itty Bitty Greetings sentiment in Mint Macaron ink.
